Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei issued a warning about the dangers of unchecked AI.
Bernie Sanders demanded AI companies stop building before they destroy humanity.
But Elon Musk just explained why AI is the only path to making every person on Earth rich.
The Insider Who Quit and Said They Are Gambling With Your Life
Jacob Coxon spent three years training the most powerful AI models on the planet at OpenAI and Anthropic.
On September 8, he resigned.
He told his colleagues on Slack that without international coordination, AI creates "a risk of causing human extinction."
Hours later he posted on X – and 70 million people read it.
"They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives," he wrote. "Neither company is acting responsibly."
That is not a protestor outside a tech conference.
That is the man who built the system from the inside, at both companies, telling you the people in charge are reckless.
Then his own colleague – still employed at Anthropic – backed him up publicly.
Evan Hubinger is Anthropic's alignment science lead.
He logged onto X and wrote: "We really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans."
"I personally think it is greater than 10% within the next decade," he added.
A senior scientist still collecting a paycheck from the company building the thing – and he is saying it may kill everyone alive.
Sanders Screamed Stop While Musk Posted This
Bernie Sanders sent letters to the CEOs of Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta demanding they pause AI development.
He warned Congress would intervene if they refused.
Then Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay titled We Must Pace the Frontier calling for the entire industry to slow down.
Musk responded in three words: "Dario is right."
Sam Altman at OpenAI agreed and committed to third-party evaluators inside his company with full access.
The leaders of the two labs Coxon named as reckless – and the billionaire who owns a competing AI company – all said publicly in the same week that the race needs to slow down.
Then Musk posted something Monday morning that cuts against all of it.
"A welfare state and free immigration will obviously bankrupt any country," he wrote on X. "AI plus robotics is the only path to universal high income for everyone on Earth."

He has been saying versions of this for two years.
At the Viva Technology conference he said the most likely outcome of AI is that "probably none of us will have a job" – and called that a good thing.
At the Abundance Summit he said robots will produce so much that scarcity disappears and money itself will "stop being relevant."
By June 2026, Musk became the world's first trillionaire after SpaceX went public and surged past a $2 trillion valuation.
The man telling you money will stop mattering is the first human being in history to accumulate a trillion dollars of it.
Trump Is Not Scared and He Is Right About the Bigger Picture
President Trump dismissed the extinction warnings as exaggerated.
He said the U.S. needs to maintain its technological lead over China – not brake for Silicon Valley executives who got nervous about what they built.
Trump is right on strategy.
But the story the media will not tell you is sitting in plain sight.

Musk and Altman are simultaneously warning that AI could end civilization and promising it will make everyone wealthy – and they are still building it at full speed.
They are calling for a slowdown with one hand and cashing trillion-dollar checks with the other.
Sanders wants to hand Washington regulators the keys to the most important technology in human history – which is exactly the wrong answer.
But the billionaires running the extinction warnings up the flagpole while collecting billions off the same technology are running their own kind of con.
Nobody is saying that out loud.
