Joe Biden's staff spent four years hiding a president who couldn't recognize George Clooney at his own fundraiser.
Karoline Leavitt just did the opposite in under five minutes.
What she handed the White House press corps Thursday is something they never got from the last administration.
The Diagnosis the White House Volunteered
Leavitt opened her July 17 briefing by addressing the swelling reporters had been speculating about in Trump's lower legs.
She didn't deflect.
She didn't accuse anyone of pushing "cheap fakes."
She handed reporters a signed letter from White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella laying out exactly what was going on.
President Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency – a condition where leg veins have trouble pumping blood back up to the heart.
The diagnosis came after a comprehensive workup including bilateral lower extremity venous doppler ultrasounds and an echocardiogram.

The echocardiogram came back clean. No deep vein thrombosis. No arterial disease. No heart failure. No kidney problems. No systemic illness.
The bruising on the back of Trump's hand that reporters fixated on for weeks?
Soft tissue irritation from shaking thousands of hands, combined with a baby aspirin regimen for cardiovascular prevention.
A Common Condition the Media Suddenly Cares About
Here is what the legacy press won't tell you about chronic venous insufficiency.
The American Heart Association says it's highly prevalent in older adults and is often underrecognized and undertreated.
More than 25 million American adults have it.
Cleveland Clinic data shows it usually shows up in people over age 50.
A peer-reviewed study of adults aged 70 to 93 found that 54.3 percent of them had some form of chronic venous disease.
That's more than half of every American in Trump's age bracket walking around with the same condition.
Dr. Jeremy Faust, an emergency physician, told CNN the diagnosis wasn't surprising or alarming and called it "a pretty normal part of aging."

Treatment is exactly what your grandfather already does – compression stockings, elevating the legs, walking, and staying active.
That's the bombshell the press has been chasing for months.
What Biden's Doctors Never Disclosed
Now contrast that briefing with the Biden administration.
Joe Biden's annual physicals, year after year, declared the man in excellent health and never once tested his cognition.
His staff explained away the falls, the freezes, the wandering off stage, and the moments he couldn't remember names of people he'd known for decades.
Then CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson dropped Original Sin, documenting how Biden's inner circle hid his cognitive and physical decline from the public.
One Biden aide told the authors the strategy was simple – Biden just had to win, and then "he'd only have to show proof of life every once in a while."
That isn't a Republican talking point.
That's a Biden insider quoted in a book by two reporters at CNN and Axios.
Former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson admitted to Semafor that Biden's team pulled off what she called "a massive cover-up" of the president's condition.

Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri put it plainly during a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing – Biden's decline didn't begin in June of 2024 at the debate. It had been obvious to anyone willing to look for years before that.
The Double Standard on Full Display
Watch what happened the moment Trump's team disclosed a routine vascular condition.
The Daily Beast immediately published a piece headlined "Trump Shows Signs of Cognitive Decline, Says Speech Expert."
The same outlet that spent the Biden years cheerleading the "cheap fakes" smear suddenly found itself a speech expert.
The Associated Press ran a separate hit piece the same week Leavitt handed reporters the physician's letter, accusing Trump of keeping his health "shrouded in secrecy."
The New Republic launched a recurring feature where every article opens with the question "Cognitive decline?" – aimed at the same 79-year-old who just disclosed his medical workup voluntarily.
Former New York Times public editor Margaret Sullivan went further, arguing in print that the lesson of the Biden cover-up isn't that the press should be more skeptical of Democrats. It's that the press should be harder on Trump.
Read that twice.
The takeaway from missing the biggest political health story in fifty years is that they need to be tougher on the other guy.
That's not journalism.
That's a public relations reset with a press badge.
What This Tells You About the Last Four Years
Trump's team published a doppler ultrasound result for swollen ankles.
https://twitter.com/highbrow_nobrow/status/2049292716672983414?s=20
Biden's team published nothing while their boss couldn't finish a debate sentence.
That contrast tells you who was actually running the country for the last four years and who is running it now.
Your uncle who got called a conspiracy theorist for asking why Joe was shuffling and freezing? He was right.
Your friend at church who said the press would turn on Trump's health the second they got an opening? She was right too.
If the legacy media had a fraction of the curiosity about Biden's cognition that it now has about Trump's circulation, Kamala Harris would have been the nominee a year earlier and we'd be looking at a very different country today.
The press knows that.
That's why they're shouting.
