The Left has been running the same draft scare since Trump killed Soleimani in 2020.
They were wrong then – and Whoopi Goldberg just proved they learned nothing.
Now she's telling your grandkids they're about to get drafted, and her own co-host had to correct her on live television.
What Goldberg Actually Said
Monday's episode of The View turned into an accidental civics lesson when Whoopi Goldberg told millions of viewers that Trump is planning a military draft for Iran.
"That's why they're planning on a draft," Goldberg said. "They're planning on a draft."
She said it twice.
There is no draft.
There is no draft being planned.
Here is what actually happened.
Congress – not Trump, not the Pentagon – changed how Selective Service registration works as part of the bipartisan FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, which Trump signed on December 18, 2025.

Under the new system, young men are automatically enrolled in the Selective Service when they turn 18 instead of having to sign up themselves.
That's paperwork modernization.
The provision was sponsored by a Democratic congresswoman from Pennsylvania and passed with bipartisan votes in both chambers.
America has not drafted a single soldier since 1973.
Her Own Co-Host Had to Step In
Here is what should embarrass every producer at ABC.
Alyssa Farah Griffin – who spent years in Republican politics – had to explain basic Selective Service law to Goldberg while the cameras were still rolling.
"What it is, is they're changing that you no longer – you used to have to opt into the draft, now it makes it automatic," Griffin said.
Goldberg didn't care.
"It's a draft," she said. "I'm sorry, it's a draft."
She got corrected by a co-host sitting three feet away from her, on her own show, and doubled down anyway.
The White House's own position, stated by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Fox News in March, is that a draft is "not part of the current plan right now."

Goldberg claimed to know something the White House itself isn't claiming.
They Have Run This Exact Playbook Before
This is not Whoopi Goldberg making an honest mistake about a complicated law.
This is a script.
When Trump ordered the airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, "World War III" trended on social media within hours.
The left screamed that America's sons were about to be shipped off to die.
Iran launched one missile strike on a US base in Iraq.
Nobody died.
Trump called it a day.
The Selective Service website crashed that week from traffic – Americans terrified by the exact same lie Goldberg told Monday.
Then it happened again in 2024, when rapper Cardi B and a wave of social media influencers spread misinformation claiming the automatic registration provision meant Congress was bringing back the draft.
The panic was so severe that lawmakers stripped the provision from that year's NDAA entirely.

The left literally killed a bipartisan government efficiency measure by lying about what it was – then blamed Trump for it.
Why They Keep Doing This
The Iranian regime is the world's biggest state sponsor of terrorism.
Trump's military operation against Iran has been an air campaign from the beginning – strikes, not boots on the ground, not a land war that would ever require conscription.
The Pentagon reported its strongest recruitment numbers in 15 years in 2025.
Reinstating conscription requires an act of Congress – and no such legislation exists.
Goldberg knows none of this matters.
The goal is not to inform the grandmothers and retirees watching at home.
The goal is to make them call their congressmen, make them scared of Trump, and make them forward the clip to their kids.
The draft is not coming.
But the lie will be back the next time Trump does something that makes the left feel powerless.
Remember that.
