Hollywood elites spent years threatening to leave if Trump won.
Turns out some of them weren't bluffing.
And wealthy Americans fleeing to foreign golden visas just exposed the Left's stunning hypocrisy.
Rich leftists fleeing instead of facing consequences of their failed policies
America's wealthy liberals are running away from the country they spent decades destroying.
In 2024, a record 4,820 wealthy Americans formally renounced their citizenship, a 48% spike from the previous year.¹
That's not Americans seeking opportunity abroad or building businesses in other countries.
That's America's elite admitting defeat and abandoning ship.
Mo Bennis from Arton Capital told Fox News Digital that wealthy Americans now view so-called "golden visas" as "the ultimate insurance policy against uncertainty."²
Translation: the rich leftists who cheered for open borders, skyrocketing taxes, and woke policies are now desperate to escape the disaster they created.
Portugal saw a 571% increase in traffic from American applicants in the first half of 2025 compared to 2024.³
Greece's "golden visa" program doubled its American applications, jumping from 302 to 383 monthly.⁴
These programs let foreign nationals buy residency or citizenship through investments ranging from $200,000 to several million dollars.
The elites who lectured working-class Americans about nationalism and borders are now shopping for escape routes.
You can't make this up.
The stunning hypocrisy Hollywood won't address
Remember when celebrities threatened to flee if Trump won in 2024?
Sharon Stone, Cher, and Barbra Streisand all promised to leave.⁵
Streisand said she wouldn't be able to "live in this country" if Trump became President.
Stone claimed she was "certainly considering a house in Italy."
Turns out they weren't joking.
Wealthy Americans are now turning golden visa applications into a growth industry.
An estimated 53% of American millionaires say they're considering leaving the country.⁶
Among younger millionaires aged 18-29, that number jumps to 64%.⁷
These aren't grandparents retiring to warmer climates.
These are young tech entrepreneurs and finance professionals who built their wealth in America and are now shopping for citizenship elsewhere.
Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley announced he's leaving for the University of Toronto because Trump's policies create "a culture of fear" in universities.⁸
This from the same crowd that demanded conservative speakers get banned from campuses.
They demanded Americans get fired for refusing experimental vaccines.
They cheered when conservatives got deplatformed from social media.
Now they're fleeing the country because Trump won.
The projection is staggering.
Where liberal elites are buying their escape plans
Portugal remains the gold standard for wealthy Americans fleeing Trump's America.
The country's golden visa requires only seven days per year spent in Portugal.⁹
After five years of residency, you can apply for Portuguese citizenship and full EU mobility.
Greece offers an even cheaper option, with property investments starting at $300,000 in most regions.¹⁰
The UAE has become the leading non-European alternative, with zero income tax and 10-year golden visas.¹¹
Malta attracts families looking for premium EU residency with flexible options to include adult children as dependents.¹²
Even Botswana is getting into the game, with U.S. nationals now the largest group of applicants for their upcoming citizenship program.¹³
More than 1,000 Americans have already applied before the program even officially launches in 2026.¹⁴
These wealthy liberals aren't seeking adventure or cultural enrichment.
They're buying insurance policies against the America First agenda they can't stop.
Trump's America doesn't need elitist cowards
While wealthy leftists abandon America, President Trump is welcoming productive immigrants who actually want to build something.
Trump's Gold Card program requires a $1 million contribution to the Treasury in exchange for expedited permanent residency.¹⁵
The Trump administration opened applications in December 2025, and nearly 70,000 people joined the waitlist within days.¹⁶
These aren't welfare seekers or illegal aliens demanding handouts.
These are successful entrepreneurs and businesspeople willing to invest heavily in America's future.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick defended the program by asking, "Why shouldn't we expedite the people who are willing to step up, to give the United States $1 million?"¹⁷
He's right.
Trump is separating winners from losers, producers from parasites.
The losers are buying their way out of Trump's America.
The winners are buying their way in.
The political realignment couldn't be clearer.
Liberal elites who got rich off America's prosperity are now fleeing the consequences of their own policies.
They supported open borders for working-class neighborhoods but want gated communities for themselves.
They demanded higher taxes on everyone else but hide their wealth in foreign accounts.
They lectured Americans about climate change while flying private jets to climate conferences.
Now they're abandoning the country entirely rather than live under policies that promote American workers, secure borders, and economic growth.
Trump's landslide victory in 2024 revealed the truth about America's ruling class.
They hate this country and everything it represents.
The only surprise is that it took them this long to admit it.
Good riddance.
