Tucker Carlson was blindsided when he heard one job offer he never expected

Jun 3, 2024

Tucker Carlson is trying to build an independent media empire after leaving Fox News.

Now another opportunity could be opening up for him.

And Tucker Carlson was blindsided when he heard one job offer he never expected.

Vivek Ramaswamy lays out a plan to save BuzzFeed

Former Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy – a biotech entrepreneur before entering politics – stunned observers by purchasing an 8.3% stake in struggling Internet media company BuzzFeed.

The company shut down BuzzFeed News last year as part of a cost-cutting measure.

BuzzFeed News was once the darling of the new breed of left-wing online journalism for pushing hoaxes, likely the widely discredited Steele Dossier that was used as a pretext to launch the Russian collusion hoax against former President Donald Trump.

Now Ramaswamy is taking on the role of activist investor as the shareholder of the company’s class A stock.

“The company was a pioneer of the social internet, when referral traffic from Facebook seemed like it would never end. Legacy media companies and publishers believed that BuzzFeed had the secret sauce, so much so that they invested at sky-high valuations, copied the strategy, or both,” Ramaswamy said in a letter to BuzzFeed’s board. “Now, the social-internet model is dying or dead, and BuzzFeed is caught without a viable strategy.”

He suggested that BuzzFeed execute a turnaround strategy by cutting staff and new board members.

And he said the company needs to pivot away from its left-wing stances.

“Make BuzzFeed a bold, distinctive brand,” Ramaswamy stated. “Distinguish yourself from competitors by openly admitting your past journalistic failures and redefine BuzzFeed’s brand around the pursuit of truth.”

Vivek Ramaswamy tells BuzzFeed to hire Tucker Carlson

The former GOP Presidential candidate pointed out that there’s no ideological diversity at BuzzFeed.

“You need to pivot, and time is of the essence,” Ramaswamy wrote.

He suggested that the company try to hire former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, former Daily Wire pundit Candace Owens, and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“While your competitors focus on racial and gender diversity in the boardroom, you can become the first media company to expressly select for a diversity of viewpoints in your ranks,” Ramaswamy said.

He said that BuzzFeed should apologize to the country for lying about Trump and the pandemic among other things.

“Address your audience directly and candidly admit: We failed in our obligation to tell you the truth,” Ramaswamy told BuzzFeed. “By both omission and commission, we repeatedly lied on issues of national importance, and so did the rest of the media.”

BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti bristled at the suggestion of bringing a crop of conservative and right-leaning pundits.

The company went public in 2021 with a $1.5 billion initial public offering.

Since then, BuzzFeed’s stock plummeted by 92%, and Ramaswamy predicted that it could go bankrupt within the year.

Embracing the far-left has failed the company thus far.

Ramaswamy’s suggestion of bringing in some ideological diversity could be the only thing that could save BuzzFeed from going under.
