Four Americans murdered, an ambassador dead on foreign soil, and a 13-year wait for justice that should have taken 13 days.
This morning at 3 a.m., FBI agents marched Zubayr Al-Bakoush off a plane at Joint Base Andrews to face American justice.
Trump's team just proved what we've known all along – when you actually want to catch terrorists instead of protecting your political image, you catch terrorists.
Obama Filed Charges Then Buried Them For 11 Years
The Obama Justice Department charged Al-Bakoush with murder in 2015.
Then they sealed the complaint and let him walk free overseas for 11 years.
That's not an investigation, that's a cover-up. File the charges so you look tough during an election year, then bury them deep enough that nobody asks why the terrorist is still breathing free air while Ambassador Stevens' family waits for someone to care. Attorney General Pam Bondi made it crystal clear at Friday's press conference – this administration doesn't forget American blood spilled by terrorists. She directly referenced Hillary Clinton's infamous congressional testimony, reminding everyone that justice matters to the families who lost everything that night.
FBI Director Kash Patel credited President Trump with giving law enforcement the resources and backing to hunt these killers across the globe.
Under Trump, the FBI has captured seven high-profile fugitives in a single year.
Under Obama and Biden, this same terrorist enjoyed more than a decade of freedom despite being charged. The math tells you everything you need to know about who actually cares about dead Americans.
The Attack They Tried To Blame On A YouTube Video
September 11, 2012 – the date itself was a message.
Islamic militants from Ansar al-Sharia hit the U.S. compound in Benghazi with AK-47 rifles, grenades, and enough firepower for a coordinated assault. They torched buildings, hunted Americans, and killed four of them. Ambassador Chris Stevens and State Department employee Sean Smith died from smoke inhalation after militants set the main building on fire. CIA contractors Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed by mortar fire at a nearby CIA annex while defending Americans on a rooftop.
The Obama administration's response?
Blame an anti-Islam YouTube video and claim spontaneous protests turned violent.
That was a lie designed to protect Obama's reelection campaign and Hillary Clinton's presidential ambitions. Multiple investigations later confirmed the attack was premeditated terrorism, not some angry mob upset about internet content. Ansar al-Sharia planned this operation, stockpiled weapons, and executed it on the anniversary of 9/11. The only people who didn't see that were the ones who needed it to be something else for political survival.
Hillary Clinton sat in congressional hearings and asked what difference it made how Americans were killed.
Here's the difference: calling it terrorism means admitting massive security failures and intelligence disasters on her watch.
Calling it a protest means she can blame free speech and move on.
They chose the spin, and terrorists like Al-Bakoush got years of freedom as their reward.
Jeanine Pirro Will Prosecute The Case Trump's Team Built
The unsealed eight-count indictment charges Al-Bakoush with murder of all four Americans, attempted murder of State Department Special Agent Scott Wickland who survived, providing material support to terrorists, and arson.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro informed the victims' families before the public announcement.
That's the kind of respect the Obama administration never showed them – actual updates, actual progress, actual justice instead of political damage control. Pirro made it clear that more terrorists from the Benghazi attack remain out there, and Trump's Justice Department will hunt every single one.
Time won't save them.
Ahmed Abu Khattala, another leader of the attack, was captured in 2014 and convicted in 2017, though he was inexplicably cleared of murder charges and received only 28 years. Mustafa al-Imam was captured in 2017 and convicted in 2020. Now Al-Bakoush joins them, and the message is simple – Trump's FBI doesn't give up, doesn't get distracted by politics, and doesn't care if it takes years to correct the previous administration's failures.
Stevens was the first U.S. ambassador killed in a terror attack since 1979.
That fact alone should have triggered an immediate, overwhelming response from Obama. Instead, Americans got a YouTube video excuse, sealed indictments gathering dust, and years of congressional hearings where Democrats painted Republicans as conspiracy theorists for asking why Americans died and who would pay for it.
Trump Gave Law Enforcement What Obama Never Would
Patel made it clear that President Trump provided the full resources and interagency coordination necessary to bring Al-Bakoush to justice.
This wasn't luck or good timing.
This was prioritization. The Trump administration decided early in the term that Benghazi justice would actually happen, then backed up that decision with the manpower and international cooperation to make it real.
Compare that to Obama's approach.
File charges quietly in 2015 during an election year to look tough on terrorism. Seal them immediately. Hope everyone forgets. Don't push other countries too hard for cooperation. Don't make it a diplomatic priority. Don't give the FBI carte blanche to hunt these terrorists wherever they hide.
Bondi's warning should terrify every terrorist plotting against Americans – you can run, but Trump's Justice Department will find you eventually.
It might not happen overnight, but it will happen.
That's the difference between an administration that treats terrorism as a law enforcement nuisance and one that treats it as war. Obama and Hillary wanted managed decline and diplomatic niceties. Trump wants terrorists in handcuffs on planes headed to American courtrooms.
Al-Bakoush is in custody, facing life in prison, and will never again see freedom.
That's what justice looks like when you actually care about delivering it.
