The Democrats have been auditioning presidential candidates in Munich, and the results are catastrophic.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez flew to Germany last week to prove she belongs on the world stage – and instead handed Republicans three years of campaign footage.
What Trump said from Air Force One when reporters asked him about her performance is the kind of verdict that sticks.
AOC Venezuela Equator Gaffe Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons
She majored in international relations at Boston University.
She's been in Congress since 2018.
She had months to prepare for two panels at the Munich Security Conference.
And when the moment came – at a follow-up appearance at the Technical University of Berlin – to defend Trump's capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explained that America can't just "engage in acts of war just because the nation is below the equator."
Venezuela is not below the equator.
Not even close – the entire country sits in the Northern Hemisphere.
Political analyst Mark Halperin said on his podcast that giving her that Munich slot "may go down in history as one of the bigger mistakes she's ever made if she wants to be president."
AOC Taiwan Answer Has JD Vance Calling It Worst TV He's Ever Seen
The Taiwan answer was even worse.
When asked directly whether the United States should commit troops to defend Taiwan if China invades, AOC froze for nearly 20 seconds.
What came out was this: "Um, you know, I think that this is such a, you know, I think that this is a um — this is, of course, a, um, very long-standing, um, policy of the United States."
Vice President JD Vance watched that clip on Fox News Tuesday and couldn't hide his reaction.
"You bring me on your show, you show me the most uncomfortable 20 seconds of television I've ever seen," Vance told anchor Martha MacCallum.
He didn't stop there.
"This is a person who is mouthing the slogans that somebody else gave her," Vance said. "When you ask them to go outside the lines they were given, they completely fall apart."
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald wasn't any kinder – he wrote that whoever convinced AOC she was ready to "give book reports about foreign policy in public really should look for another line of work."
Trump Delivers the Verdict
Flying home on Air Force One Monday night, President Trump had seen enough.
"I watched AOC answering questions in Munich," Trump told reporters. "This was not a good look for the United States."
He compared her directly to Gavin Newsom – who also embarrassed himself in Munich – and then delivered the line that's going to follow AOC for the next three years.
"These two people are incompetent," Trump said. "At least Hillary's competent. She's just Trump-deranged."
Think about that for a moment.
The man who beat Hillary Clinton is saying the Democrat hailed as the future of her party makes Hillary look good by comparison.
New York Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf – a Democrat – put it plainly: "It was a beauty pageant to show that she had some chops about international issues, and she showed a complete lack of chops about international issues. She's not ready for prime time on the international stage."
Senator Tim Scott framed the split screen everyone saw: "He was quite a statesman. She was confused. He was clear. She was disillusioned. He was direct" – contrasting Rubio's Munich address with AOC's stumbles.
AOC 2028 Presidential Run Hits Its First Major Wall
Here's what every honest Democrat knows and won't say.
AOC's Munich performance is a carbon copy of Kamala Harris's entire 2024 campaign.
The same stammering non-answers when caught off-script.
The same embarrassing factual errors.
The same pattern of hiding behind social media popularity while falling apart the moment a real question lands.
Kamala Harris spent four years as vice president and still couldn't answer basic foreign policy questions without word salad.
AOC spent months preparing with a former Bernie Sanders foreign policy adviser for this exact moment – and she managed to get Venezuela's hemisphere wrong.
Democrats keep producing candidates who look like stars on Instagram and collapse on the world stage.
The Munich Security Conference – where Marco Rubio delivered an address that electrified the room about America and Europe's shared future – exposed exactly why Trump is president and these people are not.
She has an 81% net approval rating among young Democrats.
She has no idea where Venezuela is.
That's the 2028 Democratic frontrunner.
