America's closest ally is coming for a state visit.
But decades of neglect left Trump with a humiliating problem.
And a Trump staffer just exposed how Biden left America looking like a joke on the world stage.
Why King Charles May Face Porta-Potties During 2026 White House Visit
King Charles is expected to visit the United States in April to help kick off celebrations for America's 250th anniversary of independence.
Queen Camilla will join him for what should be a showcase of American hospitality.
But White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf just spelled out how pathetic the situation really is.
During a National Capital Planning Commission meeting on January 8, Scharf laid out the brutal truth about what awaits the King.
"I think it's notable that when the president of the United States of America flies to the United Kingdom, he's hosted at Windsor Castle," Scharf said.
"When next year the king comes to the United States, more likely than not, he will be hosted in a tent on the South Lawn with porta-potties."
That's the reality Biden and past presidents accepted for years.
When Trump visited Britain in September, Charles hosted him at Windsor Castle with full royal treatment.
Now Charles comes to America and gets outdoor bathrooms under a canvas roof.
Scharf wasn't complaining about Trump's ballroom project.
He was explaining exactly why Trump had to act.
"That, to me, is not a good look for the United States of America," Scharf said.
Trump's $400 Million White House Ballroom Fixes Decades-Old Problem
The White House has been a national embarrassment for major state functions going back years.
The East Room could only fit about 200 people.
So presidents just kept setting up expensive outdoor structures on the South Lawn and pretending that was acceptable.
Biden never lifted a finger to fix it.
Obama didn't either.
They were perfectly fine making America's most important allies walk across soggy grass in the rain.
Trump took one look at the situation and said enough.
He demolished the outdated East Wing in October to make room for a 90,000-square-foot ballroom complex.
The private funding means not a single taxpayer dollar goes toward the project.
Josh Fisher, director of the White House Office of Administration, explained why tearing down the old structure was the only real option.
The building had serious structural problems that made renovation impossible.
Water damage throughout, electrical systems that violated current safety codes, and a colonnade that could barely support its own weight.
"Because of this and other factors, the cost analysis proved that demolition and reconstruction provided the lowest total cost ownership and most effective long-term strategy," Fisher told commissioners.
The National Park Service knew about these problems for years.
They studied potential fixes and then did nothing because no president wanted to deal with the political headache.
Until Trump.
King Charles State Visit Timing Exposes White House East Wing Crisis
Yes, Charles might have to deal with outdoor facilities in April.
That's not ideal.
But it's temporary discomfort that ends a permanent disgrace.
Trump is funding the entire $400 million ballroom project with private donations.
YouTube kicked in $22 million as part of a settlement.
The construction will give America a world-class entertaining space worthy of the greatest nation on Earth.
Once it's done, America can host foreign leaders the way they deserve to be hosted.
No more makeshift outdoor arrangements that cost a fortune and look cheap.
No more portable restrooms for heads of state.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation sued to stop the project over procedural complaints.
But Trump isn't letting bureaucratic red tape stop him from fixing what Biden ignored.
This will be the first visit to America by a reigning British monarch since Queen Elizabeth II came in 2007.
George W. Bush hosted her for the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement with a proper White House state dinner.
Now the infrastructure has deteriorated and Trump's the first president willing to actually rebuild it.
Charles's April visit is meant to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Britain is working to salvage a $40 billion technology partnership with the Trump administration.
Prince William is expected to visit separately during the summer to watch the FIFA World Cup.
Trump sees these moments as opportunities to showcase American strength.
And he's not going to let government neglect from previous administrations define how America treats its allies going forward.
Scharf's porta-potty comment wasn't an admission of failure.
It was a wake-up call about the pathetic condition Biden left the White House in.
Trump inherited a crumbling mess and he's fixing it the only way that makes sense.
Short-term awkwardness now beats another 50 years of national embarrassment.
That's what real leadership looks like.
