Trump Just Pulled Off What Biden Never Could In Venezuela

Jan 3, 2026

Trump spent years warning that Nicolás Maduro was a narco-terrorist running a criminal regime out of Venezuela.

Democrats and the media laughed it off as typical Trump tough talk.

Now Maduro is in handcuffs headed to face justice in an American courtroom.

Trump Orders Military Strike That Captures Maduro

President Donald Trump announced early Saturday morning that U.S. forces carried out "a large scale strike against Venezuela" and captured President Nicolás Maduro along with his wife.¹

The operation executed an arrest warrant that's been sitting around since March 2020 when Trump's first Attorney General William Barr indicted Maduro on narco-terrorism charges.²

Biden had four years to bring Maduro to justice and did absolutely nothing.

Trump got it done in less than a year back in office.

"The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country," Trump posted on Truth Social shortly after 4:30 a.m. Saturday.³

At least seven explosions rocked Venezuela's capital city Caracas around 2 a.m. local time as low-flying aircraft swept through the area.⁴

Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed that Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machineguns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machineguns and destructive devices against the United States.⁵

Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefed Senator Mike Lee that Maduro "has been arrested by U.S. personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States."⁶

Rubio told Lee the military strikes were necessary "to protect and defend those executing the arrest warrant."⁷

Maduro Ran Venezuela Like A Drug Cartel

The 2020 indictment laid out how Maduro converted an entire country into a criminal enterprise.

Federal prosecutors charged that since at least 1999, Maduro led the Cártel de Los Soles — the "Cartel of the Suns" — named after the sun insignias on Venezuelan military uniforms.⁸

The indictment alleged Maduro "abused the Venezuelan people and corrupted the legitimate institutions of Venezuela — including parts of the military, intelligence apparatus, legislature, and the judiciary — to facilitate the importation of tons of cocaine into the United States."⁹

But here's the truly evil part.

The Justice Department's indictment stated the cartel sought to "flood" the United States with cocaine and "inflict the drug's harmful and addictive effects on users in the United States."¹⁰

Maduro wasn't just running drugs for profit.

He weaponized cocaine to deliberately harm Americans.

Attorney General Barr said at the time Maduro "very deliberately deployed cocaine as a weapon" against the United States.¹¹

The U.S. government offered a $15 million bounty for Maduro's capture in 2020 that Biden increased to $25 million in January 2025.¹²

After Trump took office for his second term and designated the Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization in July 2025, he raised the bounty to an unprecedented $50 million.¹³

Trump Built The Case Over Months

The Saturday morning arrests didn't come out of nowhere.

Trump spent months methodically building pressure on Maduro's narco-regime through escalating military operations.

Starting in September, U.S. forces conducted at least 30 strikes on drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific, killing at least 107 people the administration identified as cartel operatives.¹⁴

Trump went further in late December when the CIA carried out a drone strike on a port facility inside Venezuela that officials said drug cartels used to load narcotics onto boats.¹⁵

"There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs," Trump told reporters after the CIA operation.¹⁶

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth deployed a massive naval buildup to the Caribbean — the largest concentration of American military power in the region since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.¹⁷

Each escalation sent Maduro the same message: surrender or face the consequences.

Trump authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela back in October, an unusual move he publicly acknowledged.¹⁸

"I authorized for two reasons, really. No. 1, they have emptied their prisons into the United States of America," Trump explained. "And the other thing, the drugs, we have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela."¹⁹

Democrats will scream about Trump being a warmonger.

But Trump just removed a narco-terrorist who spent two decades flooding American streets with drugs and got him without firing a shot inside the United States.

Biden would still be negotiating through back channels while fentanyl pours across the border.

Trump put Maduro in handcuffs and he's headed to a federal courtroom to answer for his crimes against the American people.
