Travis Kelce has no problem dishing on his relationship with Taylor Swift.
The power couple dominate the sports and pop culture world.
And Travis Kelce revealed this golden rule about treating Taylor Swift.
Kelce takes part in the “Eras” tour
Swift is wrapping up the international leg of her “Eras” tour.
At the very end of the show’s run, Travis Kelce finally got involved.
In the season two finale of their New Heights podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce revealed the story of how Travis’ turn on stage came to be.
“On night three, something magical happened,” Jason said of the run of shows in London where Travis made his stage debut.
“Somehow, you made your way onto the “Eras” stage,” Jason continued.
Travis sarcastically replied that it was so unlike him to want to ham it up in the spotlight.
“It’s very unlike me,” Travis replied. “I don’t love going on stages.”
Kelce said his appearance came about because one day, out of the blue, he proposed playing the role of one of the bike riders during the set in the show where Swift performed from her smash-hit 1989 album.
“I initially mentioned it to Tay. I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the ‘1989′ era?'” Travis stated.
Kelce said Swift couldn’t believe he actually wanted to take part in the show, but Kelce said he’d seen it so many times he could perform the routines by heart.
“She started laughing, and she was like, ‘Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?’ And I was just like, ‘Are you — what? I would love to do that. Are you kidding me?’ I’ve seen the show enough. Might as well put me to work here,” Kelce continued.
Kelce revealed that Swift didn’t want any part of him riding a bike around the stage, as those are carefully choreographed routines where someone new jumping for the first time could hit someone if they aren’t fully versed on where everyone on stage is going to be at the time.
“She found the perfect, perfect part of the show for me to come in. There was no bike, in case I like ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It was like the safest option,” Kelce added.
Kelce’s golden rule
Travis revealed that Swift found a part for him in the “Tortured Poets Department” era when she performed the song “Can Do It With A Broken Heart.”
At that point in the show the performers on stage need to revive Swift, so Kelce is the one who picks up Swift in his arms and carries her to a couch so she can be brought back to life.
“[They] are trying to bring Tay back to life, right? Trying to bring her back to life and get her ready to perform the rest of the show, so to speak. Knowing that she ‘Can Do It With A Broken Heart,’” Travis recounted.
Kelce said this was nerve-wracking as he constantly had to remind himself: don’t drop Swift because any injury could force the cancellation of shows and lead to disappointed fans.
“The one thing I told myself is, ‘Do not drop the baby. Do not drop this. Do not drop Taylor on your way over [to] this damn couch.’ The golden rule was do not drop Taylor. Get her to the couch safely,” Kelce recalled.
