Iran launches attack on Trump and his campaign
Federal authorities arrested a 46-year-old Pakistani man with ties to Iran named Asif Merchant.
The arrest took place one day before an assassin tried to kill Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Merchant traveled to America from Iran as part of this murder for hire plot.
But the arrest wasn’t Iran’s only attack on Trump.
POLITICO published a bombshell story that, beginning shortly after the Republican National Convention, the outlet began receiving emails from someone named “Robert” that contained confidential documents and communications from the Trump campaign.
“On July 22, POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account. Over the course of the past few weeks, the person — who used an AOL email account and identified themselves only as “Robert” — relayed what appeared to be internal communications from a senior Trump campaign official,” POLITICO exclusively reported.
The hacked documents included the vetting file for Vice-Presidential pick J.D. Vance.
“A research dossier the campaign had apparently done on Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, which was dated Feb. 23, was included in the documents. The documents are authentic, according to two people familiar with them and granted anonymity to describe internal communications. One of the people described the dossier as a preliminary version of Vance’s vetting file,” POLITICO also reported.
In one email to POLITICO, “Robert” warned the outlet not to ask how he got the documents because “any answer to this question, will compromise me and also legally restricts you from publishing them.”
Iran hacked Trump’s campaign
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung released a statement to POLITICO saying a hostile foreign country hacked the campaign in an effort to meddle in the election.
“These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process,” Cheung’s statement read.
Cheung reported that just days before, Microsoft revealed that foreign hackers compromised the mail account of a Presidential campaign official.
“On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential nominee,” Cheung continued.
Microsoft went into more detail on their website, saying the hackers were tied to terrorist groups in Iran.
“Yet another Iranian group, this one connected with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official on a presidential campaign from the compromised email account of a former senior advisor. The email contained a link that would direct traffic through a domain controlled by the group before routing to the website of the provided link,” Microsoft’s company blog read.
Iran wants to help Kamala Harris win the election because Iran fears that if Trump comes back to the White House, Trump will reimpose the sanctions that he slapped on Iran in his first term, which nearly bankrupted Iran.
Likewise, Iran believes if Kamala Harris is in the White House, she will continue the Biden policy of appeasement and unfreezing Iranian assets so Iran can fund terrorist groups.
