The DNC Just Told a Senior White House Official to Shut Up and Called Him Ugly

May 31, 2026

Democrats spent four years demanding civility and dignity in American politics.

Now the official Democratic National Committee account is cursing out Trump officials on social media.

And one of their own strategists just admitted it's embarrassing.

The Post That Blew Up the Internet

It started Wednesday when Stephen Miller – Trump's chief policy architect – posted a three-word reaction to the DNC's Texas Senate candidate.

Democrats had just nominated James Talarico, who has a history of claiming God is "non-binary" and calling men competing in women's sports a "far right conspiracy."

Miller noticed and posted: "The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate."

The official DNC account's response to the deputy White House chief of staff was four words.

"Shut up you ugly f***," the staffer responded.

That came from the verified, official account of the Democratic National Committee – not a troll, not a parody account, not a rogue staffer who got fired an hour later.

They Couldn't Even Own It

Katie Miller – Stephen's wife and a DOGE aide – identified the staffer behind the post by name.

Paulina Mangubat runs the DNC's social accounts.

She's 30.

"Put your name on it next time," Katie Miller said.

She didn't.

Because here's what actually happened: the DNC posted a profane personal attack on a senior government official, watched it blow up in their faces, and hid.

Benny Johnson said what everyone was thinking: "This is the party that spent years lecturing America about civility, unity and healing. The party that cried when Trump was 'mean' on Twitter. This is who they really are. And they wonder why they keep losing."

Dana Loesch added: "I'm sure this will get the votes you need."

Even a committed Democrat insider couldn't stomach it.

Strategist Jack Appleby – someone who has put his own time into electing House Democrats – went public: "I find this so, so embarrassing for us. We complain about the right's behavior, and now we're doing stuff like this? Come on, Democrats. Do better."

When your own people are embarrassed, you've lost the argument before it started.

The Civility Lectures Were Never Real

Biden ran for president in 2020 explicitly promising to "heal the soul of the nation."

Democrats spent years producing fundraising emails, cable hits, and congressional floor speeches about Trump's tone – his tweets, his nicknames, his rallies.

They called it an assault on democratic norms.

They held panels about it.

None of it was real. It was a strategy.

And the moment the strategy stopped working, they dropped it.

Gavin Newsom's rapid response account has been cursing out conservative reporters all year – his spokesperson told one reporter to "respectfully, f— off."

Former Clinton pollster Doug Schoen called the whole approach "a big, big mistake," warning that being "crude and rude" doesn't solve the party's actual problems.

They're not listening to Schoen.

They're doubling down.

Here's what that tells you: Democrats aren't angry because they believe in something.

They're angry because they lost – twice – to a man they told you was Hitler.

And now they have no argument left, so they're cursing at people on the internet and hoping nobody notices they have nothing to say.

The DNC didn't respond to a request for comment.
