Texas Democrats Eat Their Own After White Candidate’s ‘Mediocre Black Man’ Comment Explodes

Feb 13, 2026

Democrats spent decades lecturing America about racism while Republicans got called every name in the book.

Now their own Texas Senate primary just exposed what happens when liberals apply their race-obsessed politics to each other.

It's a blood bath – and it proves everything conservatives have been saying about the Democrat Party for years.

James Talarico's 'Mediocre Black Man' Remark Detonates Democratic Primary

TikTok influencer Morgan Thompson dropped a bombshell last week that has Texas Democrats in full meltdown mode.

She claims white state representative James Talarico told her in a private conversation that he signed up to run against "a mediocre Black man" – meaning former congressman Colin Allred – not a "formidable, intelligent Black woman" – meaning current rival Jasmine Crockett.

Both Allred and Crockett are Black.

Talarico is white.

And suddenly Democrats are learning what it's like when their identity politics weapon gets turned on one of their own.

Allred went nuclear from his home gym in a video that's now everywhere.

"I wasn't going to get involved in this race, but listen: don't come for me unless I send for you, okay, James?" Allred said, endorsing Crockett and declaring Talarico unfit for Senate.

Talarico issued the classic politician non-denial – called it "a mischaracterization of a private conversation."

He admitted using the word "mediocre" but claimed he was only describing Allred's "method of campaigning," not the man himself or his race.

That's when Crockett, a former criminal defense attorney, tore his excuse to shreds.

Jasmine Crockett Exposes The Excuse As A Confession

During an interview with The Grio, Crockett dissected Talarico's response like a hostile witness.

"Reading his statement through the lens of being a criminal defense attorney, he says, 'Oh, you said it,'" Crockett explained.

She pointed to the critical admission – Talarico confirmed the conversation happened, confirmed the timeframe, confirmed he used that exact word.

"You admitted to the time. You admitted to the conversation. You admitted that the conversation took place with this person, and you admitted to actually using that word," Crockett said.

Then Crockett dropped the line that reveals what this fight is really about.

"I think it is what so many Black people fear – is that even the most 'well-intentioned White folk,' sometimes behind closed doors, may say things about us," she said.

Translation: Democrats talk a good game about racial justice in public.

But behind closed doors, white liberals harbor the same thoughts they accuse everyone else of having.

This Is The Monster Democrats Created

Here's what makes this story perfect.

Democrats built their entire political strategy around calling Republicans racist while positioning themselves as the party of racial justice.

They made race the center of everything – hiring, college admissions, corporate boardrooms, even medical treatment during COVID.

They told America that "systemic racism" infects every institution and that only Democrats could fix it by making everyone hyper-aware of race at all times.

Now that monster is eating them alive in a Texas Senate primary.

Talarico allegedly wrapped his insult of a Black man in praise for a Black woman – a tactic Allred called out immediately.

"We're tired of folks using praise for Black women to mask criticism for Black men," Allred said.

"That's not good for our community."

This is the game Democrats taught everyone to play.

Judge everything through a racial lens.

Assume the worst motives.

Turn private conversations into public scandals.

Destroy people's careers over alleged thought crimes.

The only difference now is they're doing it to each other instead of to Republicans.

What Democrats Really Think Behind Closed Doors Gets Exposed

Crockett's fear about "well-intentioned White folk" saying things behind closed doors cuts to the heart of the Democrat Party's fundamental hypocrisy.

These are the same people who spent years calling Trump supporters racist for wanting border security.

The same people who claimed Republicans used "dog whistles" in every policy debate.

The same people who invented terms like "microaggression" and "unconscious bias" to police everyone's thoughts.

But what do white Democrats actually think about their Black colleagues when the cameras are off?

According to this Texas primary fight – not much better than what they accuse Republicans of thinking.

Research backs this up.

Princeton professor LaFleur Stephens-Dougan documented how politicians use "racial distancing" – signaling to white voters that they won't "disrupt the racial status quo" even while publicly supporting racial justice.

White Democrats tell Black voters one thing in public and white voters something different in private.

It's the oldest con in politics.

And Black voters are finally catching on.

Texas Senate Race 2026: Democrats Destroy Each Other Right Before Primary

This controversy explodes at the worst possible time for Texas Democrats.

They just pulled off an upset victory in a special election, flipping a reliably red state Senate seat – momentum they desperately needed heading into the March 3 primary.

Instead, they're eating each other alive over exactly the kind of racial grievance politics they inflict on everyone else.

Polls show the race between Crockett and Talarico is tight.

Democratic strategists admit the eventual nominee needs 90 percent support from Black voters to have any shot at beating Republican incumbent John Cornyn in November.

If Talarico's alleged comment costs him Black voters, Democrats can kiss that Senate seat goodbye.

Allred made clear he's withholding support unless he gets an apology – which hasn't come.

"If you can speak that way about me, then you don't have the requisite respect, understanding, empathy to represent, but also to receive the support of, Black voters in Texas," Allred said.

And here's the kicker – Allred revealed Talarico previously told him he'd be a better candidate "because he doesn't have a family" and could spend more time campaigning.

So Talarico allegedly dismissed Allred for being Black AND for having a family.

This is the "enlightened" white Democrat who was supposed to save Texas from Republican "extremism."

Why This Matters Beyond Texas

Conservatives should be taking notes on this entire disaster.

For decades, Democrats weaponized accusations of racism against Republicans while claiming moral superiority on race issues.

They ruined careers, destroyed reputations, and silenced debate by calling everyone racist who disagreed with their policies.

Now their own game is destroying them from within.

The Texas Democratic primary proves what conservatives have always known – liberals aren't more enlightened about race than anyone else.

They're just better at hiding what they really think while publicly virtue signaling.

When white Democrats thought they were talking in private, one allegedly called a Black former congressman "mediocre" while praising his Black female opponent.

When that conversation went public, the whole rotten system got exposed.

Democrats created a political environment where private conversations become public scandals, where alleged thought crimes destroy careers, where race defines everything.

They just never thought the weapon would be used against them.

Now Texas Democrats are learning what Republicans have dealt with for years – once you make everything about race, you can't turn it off when it becomes inconvenient.

The monster you create eventually comes for you too.

And heading into a critical Senate race, Democrats are watching their candidates destroy each other using the exact playbook they wrote.

Republicans couldn't ask for better opposition research than Democrats volunteering their own hypocrisy in a viral TikTok video.
