Hollywood's self-appointed political conscience has been calling Trump dangerous, fascist, and un-American for years.
Then Stephen King – the man who built a career on terrifying people with make-believe horrors – walked straight into a real one: his own stupidity, on full public display.
On Monday, the day before Trump's State of the Union address, King posted a screed on X claiming Trump "has never had a child," has no life experience, and is basically unqualified to breathe air – only to get immediately torched when the internet noticed he'd plagiarized the entire thing from an anti-AOC post and applied it to a man with five children and eleven grandchildren.
Stephen King's False Claim That Trump Has No Children Lit Up Social Media Instantly
The original post came from an account called "Stacy is Right" – a self-described MAGA mother of three who wrote a pointed list mocking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's lack of real-world experience, children, or a professional track record.
King reshared it, then minutes later posted his own version – substituting Trump for AOC and hitting publish without apparently noticing that none of the attacks applied.
Donald Trump Jr. didn't let it slide.
"Well, this is news to me… TDS is real and it's scary," he fired back.
Libs of TikTok was blunter: "Trump literally has 5 kids. What is this sh–?"
Nuclear scientist Matt Van Swol delivered the sharpest reply: "You literally plagiarized an entire post…which was about AOC…and then applied it to Trump…for whom it isn't true and doesn't make any sense. Why are you plagiarizing? I thought you were a writer?"
That last question is the one that stings.
Trump Has Five Children and 11 Grandchildren – King Didn't Bother to Check
Donald Trump has five children – Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron – across three marriages, and eleven grandchildren with a twelfth on the way through Tiffany.
Don Jr. alone has five kids.
Barron – the youngest, apparently nonexistent according to King – is an 18-year-old NYU student who campaigned for his father in 2024 and stood beside his family at the January 20 inauguration.
This isn't a matter of opinion or interpretation.
It's a matter of Google.
A Decade of Trump Derangement Syndrome Produced This – And Nobody on the Left Noticed
King's post wasn't a one-time slip.
Since Trump returned to office in January 2025, the horror author has called Trump a "traitorous, Putin-loving dipsh–," compared ICE agents to the Nazi Gestapo, and blamed Trump's tariffs for "ruining the economy."
On Sunday, King saw a post attacking a Democrat.
He copied it, swapped the name, skipped the fact-check, and hit send – the night before the President was set to address a joint session of Congress.
This is what the Hollywood resistance looks like in 2026: a best-selling author plagiarizing an anonymous account, getting basic facts catastrophically wrong, and doing it in front of millions of followers while lecturing 77 million Trump voters about who is and isn't qualified to lead the country.
Donald Trump Jr. was right.
TDS is real.
And Stephen King just handed the whole country exhibit A.
