Obama's FBI spied on the man Americans had just elected president – and Sara Carter was the first reporter to know it.
She didn't want to believe it.
Now she's describing the exact moment the evidence became impossible to ignore – and what she and John Solomon did next.
The Day Carter Walked Into Solomon's Office
It was 2017.
Carter had sources pointing to something almost too outrageous to report – that the FBI was actively surveilling Donald Trump during his own transition into office.
She didn't sit on it.
She walked straight into investigative reporter John Solomon's office.
"I went into John's office and I said, 'John, I need to talk to you,'" Carter recalled on Hang Out with Sean Hannity. "'I believe that there are people in the FBI spying on President-elect Trump – the duly elected president of the United States.'"

Solomon didn't immediately believe her.
He told her he wasn't sure, then called his own sources.
What he found forced him to change his mind – and the two of them started digging together.
"We're not going to let it go," she said.
The Mystery Men Who Showed Up at Solomon's Driveway
Then something happened that belongs in a Cold War thriller.
Solomon had just finished appearing on Hannity's television show, where he had been reporting on a sharp rise in the unmasking of Americans' communications.
He pulled into his driveway.
A government vehicle sat in front of his mailbox with its flashers on.
Two men got out.
Solomon feared he was about to be arrested.
He wasn't.
"Well, that thing you were talking about tonight on television… it's far deeper," one of the men told him. "There is an incredible political dirty trick that's being carried out using the most awesome powers of the intelligence community."

They told him he was at "the tip of a very large iceberg."
They told him to keep looking.
He did.
What Kash Patel Just Found Confirms Every Word
Carter called what she and Solomon uncovered "the most important story in American history."
She wasn't wrong – and Kash Patel just proved it.
FBI Director Patel recently discovered thousands of sensitive Trump–Russia probe documents stuffed inside "burn bags" in a secret room at FBI headquarters – a room that did not appear on the bureau's own blueprints and that no one could initially access.
Burn bags exist for one reason – to destroy classified documents before they can be seen.
These were never burned.
Among the materials: a 29-page classified annex to former Special Counsel John Durham's 2023 report – a document that has never been publicly released.
That annex, Durham's own investigation confirmed, contains intelligence showing the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane based on "raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence" – with no actual evidence of collusion between Trump's team and Russia.

And Patel says the bags were found in a room linked to former FBI Director James Comey and senior agents from the Crossfire Hurricane probe.
Solomon Says Obama's FBI Ran an 11-Year Operation Against an Elected President
What Carter and Solomon began uncovering in 2017 wasn't a rogue agent or a single bad decision.
This was Obama's FBI – fueled by a dossier Hillary Clinton's campaign paid for, and aimed at a man the American people had just chosen to lead the country.
The FBI used that dossier to obtain FISA warrants and lied to the surveillance court about its reliability.
Peter Strzok and Lisa Page – the anti-Trump agents whose own text messages blew the operation open – discussed planting a counterintelligence officer inside Trump's transition team briefing in November 2016 to assess incoming staff.
That's not speculation.
That's documented in a letter from Senate Judiciary Committee investigators to the Department of Justice.
Patel, who proved the Steele Dossier was fictional intelligence back in 2017 and 2018, puts it plainly: this was a coordinated effort using the intelligence community's most powerful surveillance tools against a presidential candidate, a president-elect, and then a sitting president.
Obama's people built this operation.
Comey's FBI ran it.
And when it started unraveling, someone stuffed the evidence into burn bags and hid it in a room they kept off the building's blueprints.
Sara Carter walked into John Solomon's office eight years ago and said something the FBI desperately hoped no American would ever hear.
Kash Patel just found the room where they tried to make sure of it.
