In 1980, the federal government told America to stop eating fat – and the obesity rate was under 15 percent.
By the time Biden left office, that number had hit 40 percent.
RFK Jr. just announced what no health secretary has been able to say in the 45 years since Washington broke American health.
The Number 50 Years of Failed Government Could Not Produce
"Since President Trump came into office, obesity rates in this country have dropped by 2.5 percent," Kennedy announced. "That's the first drop in 50 years."
Gallup confirmed it independently.
After peaking at a record high of 39.9 percent in 2022, the U.S. adult obesity rate fell to 37.0 percent in 2025 – representing an estimated 7.6 million fewer obese Americans compared to three years ago.
Seven point six million people.
When John F. Kennedy was president, 3 percent of children were obese.
Today, it's 20 percent.
Kennedy made that comparison himself, and the contrast should make every American furious.

The government called it a personal responsibility problem.
They built a food pyramid – according to Kennedy – designed by industry lobbyists who wanted you to buy more grain and less protein.
And it worked.
The obesity rate exploded.
What the Government Has Been Doing to Your Family for 50 Years
"It's not because they suddenly became indolent or lazy or hungry," Kennedy said. "It's because they were being mass poisoned by ultra-processed foods, and because of the food pyramid and the dietary guidelines, we were directed away from protein, away from healthy foods."
Forty-eight cents out of every dollar you send to Washington in taxes now goes to healthcare.
Ninety percent of that money goes to treating chronic disease.
And 77 percent of American kids cannot qualify for military service – primarily because of obesity.
That is a national security crisis hiding in plain sight.
When Kennedy was a kid, a typical pediatrician would see one case of Type 2 diabetes over an entire 40 or 50-year career.
Today, 38 percent of American teenagers are diabetic or pre-diabetic.

Kennedy pointed to China as Exhibit A for what processed food does to a population.
Ninety-five years ago, there was essentially no diabetes in China.
Then they built 20,000 fast food restaurants and started importing American ultra-processed foods.
Now just over half of China's adult population is diabetic or pre-diabetic.
America exported its food system and its disease along with it.
What Trump and Kennedy Actually Did About It
The Trump administration did not just talk about this problem.
In January 2026, HHS and USDA released the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans – the first in the program's history to explicitly call out ultra-processed foods by name and tell Americans to avoid them.
The previous guidelines never mentioned ultra-processed food once in five years of recommendations.
For the first time, the new food pyramid flips the old model on its head – protein, healthy fats, and dairy now anchor the top, with whole grains reduced to the smallest tier at the base.
FDA Deputy Commissioner Kyle Diamantas called 2026 "a fundamental transformational year" for food reform, and he was not exaggerating.
Kennedy is also pushing to reform what SNAP dollars can purchase.
"Why are we paying for soda and candy for the poorest 63 million kids in this country?" he asked at a March rally. "We're giving them diabetes, and then we're paying for it."

That is the actual federal budget working against the American people it is supposed to serve.
The media ignored fifty years of rising obesity rates because it fit no useful political narrative.
The moment the numbers reverse under Trump, they are scrambling to credit the drugs.
Ozempic is real. GLP-1 medications have helped.
But those drugs became widely available under Biden – and the obesity rate kept climbing.
The dietary guidelines overhaul, the SNAP reform push, the White House megaphone pointed directly at ultra-processed food manufacturers – that is the Trump and Kennedy difference.
You were not lazy.
You were not weak.
Your government was lying to you for fifty years.
Now you have one that is telling you the truth.
