Prince Louis Just Lost One Royal Title Because of Prince Andrew’s Disgusting Past

Oct 27, 2025

Prince Andrew’s scandals just destroyed centuries of royal tradition.

The fallout keeps getting worse for the royal family.

And Prince Louis just lost one royal title because of Prince Andrew’s disgusting past.

Prince Andrew’s Epstein connection poisons Duke of York title forever

Prince Andrew announced on October 17 that he was giving up the Duke of York title after Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir revived scrutiny of his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.¹

Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41.²

Her book "Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice" published on October 21 detailed allegations that Andrew sexually abused her when she was 17 years old.³

The memoir described how Giuffre claimed she was trafficked by Epstein and forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions in London, New York, and on Epstein’s private island.⁴

Andrew paid millions to settle Giuffre’s civil lawsuit in 2022 despite consistently denying ever meeting her.⁵

"In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family," Andrew said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace.⁶

Andrew’s announcement came just days before Giuffre’s memoir hit bookstores and became an instant bestseller.

The book made explosive new allegations that Andrew’s legal team tried to hire internet trolls to harass Giuffre during her lawsuit.⁷

It also revealed that Andrew continued his friendship with Epstein two months longer than he claimed in his disastrous 2019 BBC interview.⁸

The 65-year-old prince stepped back from royal duties in 2019 after that BBC "Newsnight" interview backfired spectacularly when he tried defending his association with Epstein.

But giving up the title doesn’t require an Act of Parliament to formally strip it away.

Andrew will still technically be a duke and retain his "prince" title as the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.⁹

The Duke of York title will revert to the Crown when Andrew dies since he only has daughters who cannot inherit it under current succession rules.

Royal experts say William won’t let his son touch the toxic title

Prince Louis, age 7, was widely expected to become the next Duke of York since he’s Prince William’s second son.

The Duke of York title has been traditionally bestowed on the monarch’s second son since King Edward IV created the custom in 1474.¹⁰

Queen Elizabeth II’s father, King George VI, held the Duke of York title before ascending to the throne in 1936 after his elder brother Edward VIII abdicated.

But multiple royal experts told Fox News Digital that William will break with centuries of tradition and never give his son Andrew’s tarnished title.

"The terribly tarnished title of Duke of York will not be offered to Prince Louis or, for that matter, any other royal, probably in our lifetimes, nor in the foreseeable future," British royals expert Hilary Fordwich explained.¹¹

"It will most likely be put in abeyance to die with Prince Andrew," Fordwich added. "Tradition should be abandoned to restore public trust and to demonstrate moral clarity."¹²

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams agreed the scandal destroyed any chance of the title being used again soon.

"The York brand has become toxic," Fitzwilliams said. "It is most unlikely that it will be used by the royal family in the near future."¹³

The Duke of York title also carries a dark history beyond Andrew’s scandals.

The first Duke of York, Edmund of Langley, who received the title in 1385, committed what historians call "one of England’s greatest acts of betrayal" when he switched allegiances.¹⁴

His son Edward, the second Duke of York, died at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415.

The third Duke of York, Edward’s nephew Richard, was killed in 1460 at the Battle of Wakefield where enemies displayed his severed head on a pike with a paper crown.¹⁵

Some observers have speculated the title itself may be cursed given the tragic fates of multiple holders over the centuries.

But Fitzwilliams dismissed that notion.

William determined to protect his son from Andrew’s stench

Fordwich said William was the driving force behind permanently ending Andrew’s use of the title.

"William won’t wish his son to be tarnished by any memories of his disgraced great-uncle," Fordwich stated. "He was behind his uncle’s title being rescinded permanently, advocating strongly for this despicable scandal to be met with decisive disciplinary action."¹⁶

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner noted that William and Kate Middleton have different priorities for their children than past generations.

"William and Kate want their children to have as normal a life as possible," Turner explained. "They’re trying to create equality among their children, instead of them becoming spares to their eldest son, Prince George."¹⁷

British broadcaster Helena Chard agreed the Prince and Princess of Wales wouldn’t consider giving Louis the Duke of York title.

"I can’t believe that the title will be revived for Prince Louis," Chard said. "The negative press association with this dukedom is not a positive step."¹⁸

William will likely bestow a different dukedom on Louis when he marries or reaches adulthood.

The title of Duke of Cambridge could become available again when William ascends the throne since that’s currently his title.

Prince George, 12, is expected to receive the Prince of Wales title when his father becomes king since that honor traditionally goes to the heir apparent.

Princess Charlotte, 10, could receive the Princess Royal title currently held by Princess Anne.

That title is the highest honor that can be given to a female member of the royal family and has only been held by seven princesses since 1642.¹⁹

Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson can also no longer use the Duchess of York title after his announcement.

The palace scandal shows no signs of ending anytime soon.

London’s Metropolitan Police announced they’re investigating reports that Andrew asked one of his bodyguards in 2011 to dig up dirt on Giuffre.²⁰

Scottish National Party lawmakers introduced a parliamentary motion calling for legislation to officially strip Andrew of his remaining titles.²¹

The royal family hoped Andrew giving up the Duke of York title would mark the end of this nightmare.

But Giuffre’s memoir and continuing revelations about Andrew’s conduct ensure the scandal will haunt the monarchy for years to come.
