Joe Biden turned the world's most lethal fighting force into a taxpayer-funded gender clinic.
Now Pete Hegseth just assembled every general and admiral in the country in one room to tell them it's over.
Pete Hegseth said two words that no General in that room had heard from a Defense Secretary in four years.
Biden's Four-Year Readiness Disaster
Joe Biden's Day One Executive Order 14004 didn't just open the military to transgender servicemembers.
It handed them a blank check.
Medical costs for servicemembers with gender dysphoria were already running three times higher than for their peers before Biden even took office – and he hit the gas anyway.
Taxpayers funded the surgeries.
Taxpayers funded the hormone replacement therapies.
And then – here's what nobody in the mainstream press will tell you – those same servicemembers couldn't deploy.

An Obama-era RAND study, commissioned by the Pentagon itself, found the average transgender soldier seeking sex-change procedures was non-deployable for 238 days.
That's 65 percent of an entire year.
Imagine telling your field commander you've got a soldier on the books who can't fight for eight months.
Biden called it "inclusion."
Generals called it a readiness crisis.
And while China was building hypersonic missiles and Russia was moving troops, the Biden Pentagon was debating pronouns.
Hegseth Walked Into Quantico and Said It Plainly
On September 30, 2025, Pete Hegseth stood before nearly every O-7 and above general and admiral in the United States military at Marine Corps Base Quantico – an audience that hadn't assembled like that in years.
He didn't mince words.
"From this moment forward, the only mission of the newly restored Department of War is this: warfighting," he said.
Then he said the two words that changed everything: "male standard."
All combat personnel – regardless of gender – must now meet the male physical fitness benchmark.

Every active-duty servicemember takes two fitness tests per year, works out every duty day, and meets strict height and weight requirements.
No exceptions for rank.
Then he told them what he actually thought of the Pentagon he inherited.
"It's tiring to look out at combat formations, or really any formation, and see fat troops," he said.
He said the same about the hallways those generals walked every day – calling it "completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals" leading commands across the country.
No More Dudes in Dresses
The new directives didn't stop at pushups.
Hegseth issued ten separate memos at Quantico, covering everything from grooming standards to DEI elimination.
"No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses," he declared. "No more climate change worship. No more division, distraction, or gender delusions."
Trump's Executive Order 14183 – signed on January 27, 2025 – had already set the foundation by establishing biological sex as the singular standard for fitness testing, grooming regulations, and facility allocations.
"Military service must be reserved for those mentally and physically fit for duty," the order reads. "The Armed Forces must adhere to high mental and physical health standards to ensure our military can deploy, fight, and win, including in austere conditions and without the benefit of routine medical treatment or special provisions."
The Supreme Court backed Trump up in May 2025, allowing the ban to remain in effect while legal challenges wound through lower courts.
What This Actually Means Going Forward
Democrats and their media allies are screaming that this is discrimination.
What it actually is – is math.
When China's military is conducting live-fire exercises around Taiwan and Iran is funding proxy armies across the Middle East, you cannot afford 238 non-deployable days per soldier.

You cannot afford soldiers who spend eight months of every year medically unavailable because of elective procedures Biden decided to fund.
The Heritage Foundation called this years ago: Biden was "creating a class of potentially non-deployable servicemembers" – and he did exactly that.
Hegseth's response was simple.
"Our adversaries are not growing weaker, and our tasks are not growing less challenging," he declared.
Trump gave Hegseth the keys, and Hegseth drove it straight back to lethality.
The men and women who can meet the standard will serve.
The rest won't – and that's not cruelty, it's the whole point of having an army.
