Barack Obama just crawled out of retirement to attack Trump's deportation operation.
He's calling what happened in Minneapolis a "wake-up call" – not about lawless illegals flooding sanctuary cities, but about the agents trying to catch them.
The man who deported more people than any president in history now wants you to believe ICE agents are the bad guys.
Obama Deportation Record: The "Deporter In Chief" Has Sudden Amnesia
Obama removed 2.5 million illegals between 2009 and 2015.
Immigration activists called him "Deporter in Chief" because he kicked out more people than any president before or since.
Janet Murguía, president of the National Council of La Raza, publicly branded him with that nickname in March 2014 – and his White House was furious about it.
Now he's released a joint statement with Michelle claiming Trump's agents are using "unprecedented tactics" that seem "designed to intimidate, harass, provoke and endanger" Minneapolis residents.
Obama's DHS conducted workplace raids that terrified immigrant communities.
His Border Patrol was slammed by the ACLU for patterns of brutality against children between 2009 and 2014.
Democrats in Congress accused his ICE of terrorizing communities – Rep. Luis Gutierrez called him "deporter in chief" on the House floor.
But Obama had one advantage Trump doesn't – he could deport hundreds of thousands without CNN cameras broadcasting every arrest.
Trump Immigration Enforcement vs Obama's Deportation Policy
Obama's enforcement focused on criminals and recent border crossers using strict written priorities.
Trump's goes after everyone who broke into our country illegally.
When Obama's ICE showed up, sanctuary cities weren't ordering their police to stand down.
When Trump's agents arrive, Governor Tim Walz compares them to Nazis and Mayor Jacob Frey demands they leave.
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara said his department recovered 900 guns last year without shooting anyone – a direct shot at federal agents.
He also admitted federal agents blocked his officers from the Pretti shooting scene and refused to share basic information.
That's the cooperation Obama claims Trump should be seeking.
Obama wrote that Trump should "work constructively with Governor Walz and Mayor Frey" to "achieve legitimate law enforcement goals."
Those are the same officials who've been sabotaging ICE operations for weeks.
Alex Pretti Shooting: What Obama Won't Tell You About The Minneapolis ICE Incident
DHS says Pretti approached Border Patrol agents armed with a 9mm pistol during an operation targeting an illegal immigrant with a criminal history.
Video shows agents wrestling Pretti to the ground – with at least one agent appearing to secure his gun before another opened fire.
Ten shots in five seconds.
Obama claims Trump's officials are "drawing conclusions without thorough investigations" and making statements "directly contradicted by video evidence."
Pretti had a valid carry permit and lived less than two miles from where he was shot.
His parents say the Trump administration is telling "sickening lies" about their son.
But Obama leaves out that Pretti inserted himself into a federal law enforcement operation while carrying a loaded weapon.
Minneapolis Federal Agents Face Coordinated Democrat Obstruction
Minneapolis has become ground zero for Democrat resistance to immigration enforcement.
Walz activated the National Guard – not to help ICE, but to protect protesters from them.
Frey requested a temporary restraining order to stop Trump's "immigration crackdown."
Senator Amy Klobuchar demanded ICE leave Minnesota entirely.
A federal judge ruled agents can't detain or tear gas "peaceful protesters" – even ones blocking enforcement operations.
When Trump's agents try to arrest criminal illegals, they face governors comparing them to Holocaust perpetrators, mayors calling them murderers, protesters biting off their fingers, legal observers filming their every move, and federal judges handcuffing their authority.
Obama's ICE never dealt with that level of coordinated obstruction.
His enforcement operations happened in Florida and Texas where local cops helped instead of hindered.
That's why you never saw the chaos – not because his tactics were gentler, but because Democrats weren't actively trying to sabotage him.
Obama Statement On Minneapolis: The Real Message Behind The Criticism
The Obamas urged Americans to "support and draw inspiration from the wave of peaceful protests in Minneapolis."
They want you protesting the agents trying to remove criminals from your neighborhoods.
They claim federal tactics have "resulted in the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens" – as if ICE woke up one morning and decided to start killing protesters for fun.
Both shootings happened when civilians interfered with enforcement operations.
Obama knows this because he ran the same operations for eight years.
But now he needs Trump to fail more than he needs the truth to come out.
The White House fired back immediately – spokesperson Abigail Jackson said Obama is "exploiting the moment to sow more division" instead of urging Walz and Frey to cooperate with federal agents trying to "remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens from American communities."
Obama deported millions without apology when he was president.
Now he's pretending deportation itself is un-American because Trump's doing it.
He claims federal agents are operating "with impunity" and need "discipline and accountability."
Those agents are enforcing the exact same laws Obama enforced.
The difference is Trump won't apologize for it.
