The cruise giant unveiled its massive fleet overhaul that promises to transform summer travel plans.
And Norwegian Cruise Line stunned vacationers with this game-changing summer announcement that will have travelers racing to book their summer getaways.
Norwegian goes all-in on summer cruises with revamped ships and bucket-list destinations
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is rolling out the red carpet for summer travelers with newly renovated ships and itineraries designed to deliver maximum value during the peak travel season.
The cruise line revealed brand-new images of the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Bliss following extensive dry dock renovations, showcasing NCL’s commitment to offering enhanced vacation experiences at sea.
“In anticipation of this summer season, we have invested significantly in new and newly renovated ships to give our guests more to do, more to enjoy and more value for their vacation in some of the hottest destinations this summer,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
The company is positioning itself as the premier option for travelers wanting to maximize their vacation dollars while experiencing multiple destinations without the hassle of packing and unpacking at each stop.
Youngest fleet cruising to Alaska with purpose-built ships
Norwegian is flexing its muscles in Alaska this summer, boasting the youngest fleet in the region with five ships cruising the Last Frontier through October 2025.
Three recently renovated Breakaway-Plus class ships – Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore, and Norwegian Joy – will serve Alaska with departures from Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia.
These vessels weren’t just updated – they were custom-built for Alaska cruising with expansive observation lounges and the outdoor Waterfront promenade designed to enhance guests’ connection to the breathtaking scenery.
The Norwegian Bliss even features a brand-new outdoor venue called Horizon Park, a versatile gathering space with lawn-style games, giant Jenga, and reclining loungers perfectly positioned for optimal views of Alaska’s majestic landscapes.
For travelers wanting a deeper Alaskan experience, NCL also offers Cruisetours that extend beyond the ship with visits to Denali National Park, riverboat cruises in Fairbanks, tours of the Iditarod sled dog musher’s camp, and more.
European summer vacations with almost no days at sea
Norwegian isn’t just focused on Alaska. The cruise line is offering over 150 unique European itineraries across eight ships, including two freshly renovated vessels – Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Epic – along with two of NCL’s newest ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva.
The newly enhanced Norwegian Breakaway now features the all-new Silver Screen Bistro, an immersive movie and dining venue for families, plus the new Horizon Park offering panoramic ocean views.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Epic just emerged from dry dock on May 8 with a reimagined Kids’ Aqua Park and an expanded Vibe Beach Club, an adults-only oasis with more lounge chairs and private cabanas.
Both ships will sail a variety of 9-12 day Mediterranean cruises from Rome, Barcelona, and Venice, visiting historic European cities and the picturesque Greek Isles.
Brand-new Norwegian Aqua offering Caribbean and Bermuda escapes
For families looking to make the most of summer break, Norwegian’s newest ship, Norwegian Aqua, is sailing Caribbean itineraries from Orlando (Port Canaveral) before heading to New York for Bermuda cruises starting in August.
The ship features first-of-their-kind attractions like the Aqua Slidecoaster, billed as the fastest and longest slides at sea, and the Glow Court, a digital sports complex that transforms into a nightclub.
Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Jewel will also offer seven-day Bermuda cruises from New York and Boston, featuring overnight stays in Bermuda to maximize beach time.
More At Sea package delivers substantial value
In a move that could save travelers serious money, Norwegian’s More At Sea package offers over 75% in savings with perks including unlimited open bar with premium brands like Casamigos Tequila and Grey Goose Vodka, specialty dining meals, high-speed Wi-Fi minutes, and $50 shore excursion credits at every port.
The package also includes free airfare for the second guest and kids sail free on select sailings.
With inflation squeezing vacation budgets, Norwegian’s value proposition could be a deciding factor for travelers this summer.
The cruise line’s strategy of combining newly renovated ships, bucket-list destinations, and substantial package savings appears designed to capture a larger share of the summer vacation market as travelers look for maximum value without sacrificing experiences.
Whether you’re dreaming of glaciers in Alaska, historic sites in Europe, or pristine beaches in the Caribbean, Norwegian is betting their revamped fleet and value packages will make cruising your top choice this summer.
