Nick Sortor Attacked by Anti-ICE Mob in Minneapolis – Conservative Journalist Forced to Drive Through Protesters

Jan 15, 2026

Anti-ICE riots have been tearing through Minneapolis for days.

The radical leftists claim they're "peaceful protesters" outraged over one woman's death.

But conservative journalist Nick Sortor had to drive through a mob after they smashed his windows and threatened to kill him.

Anti-ICE Protesters Attack Conservative Journalist Outside Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building

Nick Sortor has been covering the Minneapolis anti-ICE protests for days, documenting what local Democrat politicians won't admit is happening in their streets.

On Sunday, the mob turned their rage directly on him.

Sortor and fellow journalist Cam Higby were covering events outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building when agitators in masks closed in on them.

Federal agents had to deploy tear gas and flash-bang grenades just to disperse the attackers coming after Sortor on the street.

That's when things got truly dangerous.

Sortor got back to his vehicle thinking he could leave the scene safely.

The mob had other plans.

They boxed in his truck, trapping him and Higby inside while smashing the windows with water bottles that had been frozen solid beforehand.

Somebody was preparing those weapons ahead of time and handing them out to rioters.

The attackers spray-painted obscenities on his vehicle while screaming they were going to kill both men.

Minneapolis Police Detain Nick Sortor After Anti-ICE Mob Attack

Sortor repeatedly warned the mob blocking his escape route to move.

They refused.

Fearing for their lives as the violence escalated, Sortor drove through the crowd to safety.

"They then used vehicles to BLOCK US as we were running, forcing me to throw the truck off the road to go around them," Sortor wrote on X.

The rioters chased him down the interstate in their own vehicles.

What happened next shows exactly whose side Minneapolis law enforcement is on.

The mob called 911 claiming Sortor had a gun and was "running over innocent protesters."

Complete lies.

But Minneapolis police detained Sortor and Higby anyway while their attackers roamed free.

The Eagan Police Department eventually released both men after determining they'd done nothing wrong.

Pattern of Left-Wing Violence Against Conservative Journalists

This isn't Sortor's first encounter with radical leftist mobs.

He was arrested in Portland in October after protesters attacked him outside that city's ICE facility.

Prosecutors dropped all charges when video showed protesters assaulted him first and he only defended himself.

Since Charlie Kirk's assassination on September 10th, Trump has taken an aggressive stance against domestic terrorism from the radical left.

The attack on Sortor fits a clear pattern of organized left-wing violence targeting conservatives who document what's really happening.

These aren't spontaneous protests.

They're coordinated operations with prepared weapons, chase vehicles, and tactics designed to intimidate journalists and obstruct law enforcement.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced hundreds more federal agents are being deployed to Minneapolis.

That's exactly what's needed when local officials like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey tell ICE to "get the f*** out" while violent mobs attack conservatives in the streets.

Sortor escaped because he recognized the danger fast enough and drove away despite the broken windows and attackers blocking his path.

This is what Democrats call "peaceful protest."

Death threats, property destruction, coordinated chase tactics, and false police reports designed to get their victims arrested.
