Trump cleared Washington, DC’s federal parks of homeless camps and rebuilt the fountains Democrats let rot for years – and the media still wasn't happy.
Now he wants something simple added to the park across the street from the White House.
And MSNBC just lost its mind over forty seven maple trees.
Maple Trees Are Tyranny Now
MSNBC's own blog branded it part of Trump's "self-glorification agenda," lumping maple trees in with battleships and a redesigned passport.
That's the level of crisis we're at.
A president fixing a park is now a national emergency for cable news.
Lafayette Square sits directly north of the White House, and Trump has called it "the entrance to the White House."
The Washington Post reported two anonymous sources confirmed Trump's plan: 47 maple trees, one for every number of his presidency.
Maples are his favorite.
The park has held dozens of trees for two centuries.
Nobody is paving it over.

Reporter Hannah Bleau at Breitbart News noted the square has historically held several dozen trees, with some removed during construction.
Officials told the Post nothing is locked in until Trump formally announces it – standard for a builder who tends to micromanage his own projects.
This isn't new behavior for American presidents. Rutherford B. Hayes started the tradition of planting commemorative trees at the White House back in 1876.
Andrew Jackson planted two magnolias for his late wife Rachel.
They still bloom today.
A white oak planted under the Roosevelts in 1935 still stands.
Ronald Reagan planted a willow oak in 1988.
Trump counting to 47 is the same tradition every other president used – he just picked a number that means something to him.
The Real Story The Media Keeps Burying
While reporters obsess over tree counts, the Interior Department has spent over a year clearing Washington of the squalor Democrats let pile up for decades.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum told Breitbart News Daily his agency has removed more than 150 homeless camps from federal land since Trump's March 2025 executive order.
The Columbus Fountain was a homeless camp 16 months ago.
Now it runs clean.
The Meridian Hill cascading fountain sat broken for decades.
Now it flows again.
"Beauty is a choice," Burgum said, arguing the city no longer has to tolerate squalor and homelessness on federal land.
The Daily Caller tallied the work: 45 monuments cleaned, 1,143 benches repaired, 1,695 streetlights fixed, 250 truckloads of debris pulled from the city's ponds.
Six statues have gone back up, including the Caesar Rodney statue that was torn down during the 2020 riots.
That's the actual story.
Democrats let the capital rot for a generation, Trump fixed it in time for America's 250th birthday, and the press is mad about trees.
Why The Number Drives Them Crazy
These same outlets covered D.C.'s federal parks sitting full of tents for years and called it a housing crisis nobody could fix.
Trump fixed it in under two years, and now a tree count is the outrage.
Now Trump wants a tidy detail added to a park that's already done, and somehow that's the scandal.
The outrage only makes sense if Trump is supposed to hate this job.
He doesn't.
He's having fun, and he's leaving his fingerprints on the city like the builder he is.
Forty seven maples cost nothing next to what years of uncleared homeless camps cost D.C. in lost tourism and lost pride.
The same Democrats who let the city rot don't get to clutch their pearls over landscaping now.
Lafayette Park has been closed for renovations since January, and people close to the project tell the Post an August reopening is more realistic than the administration's hoped-for July 4th target.
When it reopens, tourists walking through President's Park will see a clean, restored space named for a French general who helped win American independence – with 47 maples standing as Trump's own mark on it.
That's not an ego trip.
That's a builder finishing the job.
