The media is paying a steep price for spending years lying about Donald Trump.
But one outlet stands out as the biggest loser in the post-election bloodletting.
And MSNBC hit rock bottom with this shocking collapse.
MSNBC ratings crater
Viewers tune into news organizations expecting to be told the truth.
That wasn’t the case with MSNBC on multiple levels.
MSNBC led the Kamala Harris hype train.
Hosts, guests, and reporters all fed the narrative that Kamala brought “joy” back to politics, which put her on a glide path to victory.
When Trump won easily, viewers realized they’d been hoodwinked.
And the ratings crashed nearly 50 percent overall.
Fewer Americans in the coveted 25-54 age demographic – the group networks use to set the rates they charge for commercials – watched MSNBC than attended college football games.
“According to Nielsen data, MSNBC’s total viewership has dropped by 47 percent post-election, and its critical 25-54 demographic plummeted to just 63,000 during primetime—a sharp contrast to its pre-election numbers,” Mediaite reported.
No show paid a bigger price for gaslighting viewers than Morning Joe.
After co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski met with Donald Trump, viewers couldn’t wait to turn the channel, judging Joe and Mika to be frauds after they spent every day of the last seven years calling Trump a fascist threat to democracy.
“In total-day ratings, MSNBC’s struggles continued, drawing 497,000 viewers and only 49,000 in the 25-54 demo, as shows like Morning Joe recorded some of their lowest numbers in years. The network’s flagship morning program saw a 37 percent drop in viewership after co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski met with President-elect Donald Trump,” Mediaite continued.
By comparison, Fox New News – which told the truth about the election and Donald Trump’s chances of victory – saw a ratings surge.
“While MSNBC pulled in 644,000 viewers in primetime, Fox News soared to 3.2 million, an 86 percent year-over-year increase in total viewers. In the coveted 25-54 demographic, Fox saw a 147 percent surge, averaging 476,000 viewers. In total-day ratings, MSNBC’s struggles continued, drawing 497,000 viewers and only 49,000 in the 25-54 demo, as shows like Morning Joe recorded some of their lowest numbers in years. MSNBC’s shaky future
Both Bill O’Reilly and Greg Gutfeld predicted this is curtains for MSNBC.
Cable television is a dying business because of cord-cutting and the shift to streaming platforms.
Comcast – the parent company of NBC Universal – spinoffs MSNBC and several other cable channels into a new company.
That’s generally the precursor to a sale.
Elon Musk continues to wink and nod on social media that he would buy MSNBC and in turn do for that channel what he did for X when he purchased the social media platform in 2022.
