Melania Trump just dropped a trailer that has Hollywood in full meltdown mode

Dec 21, 2025

Hollywood thought they buried Brett Ratner for good in 2017.

The director vanished after MeToo allegations torpedoed his career.

But Melania Trump just dropped a trailer that has Hollywood in full meltdown mode.

First Lady Melania Trump gave Fox News an exclusive first look at her upcoming film "MELANIA" set to hit theaters worldwide on January 30.¹

The 104-minute documentary chronicles the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump's second inauguration.

Amazon MGM Studios paid a record-breaking $40 million for the rights — the largest documentary deal in history.²

Disney, Netflix, and Paramount all competed for the film.³

But the real bombshell isn't the money.

It's who's directing it.

Brett Ratner returns from Hollywood exile to direct First Lady's film

Brett Ratner — the Rush Hour director who Warner Bros. dropped in 2017 — is back.

Six women accused Ratner of sexual harassment and misconduct in November 2017, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.⁴

Warner Bros. severed ties with him the same day the Los Angeles Times published the allegations.⁵

Ratner denied everything through his attorney, but Hollywood blacklisted him.

He hasn't directed a major Hollywood production since.

Until now.

The trailer opens with Mrs. Trump walking into the U.S. Capitol rotunda for the inauguration in her navy blue and ivory outfit.

She turns to the camera and says: "Here we go again."

The film jumps between scenes at Mar-a-Lago, Air Force One, the White House, and intimate family moments with Barron Trump.

In one scene, President Trump rehearses a speech at a podium.

"My proudest legacy will be that of peacemaker," Trump says.

The First Lady interrupts: "Peacemaker and unifier."

First Lady maintained hands-on control throughout production

Fox News learned that Mrs. Trump was involved "in every aspect" of the film — from creative vision to serving as producer to overseeing marketing.⁶

The First Lady wanted the film produced to "the highest cinematic standard" rather than a typical documentary.⁷

"Because the subject matter is historically consequential, it was imperative for me to produce a film of the highest cinematic standard, suitable exclusively in theaters worldwide," Mrs. Trump told Fox News.⁸

She conceived the idea for the film in November 2024, right after President Trump won the election.

Her agent Marc Beckman led negotiations with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy beginning November 18, 2024.

Disney fought hard for exclusive rights.

So did Netflix and Paramount.

Amazon won with that historic $40 million bid.

"I'm honored to be working with Amazon — they've been great partners from the minute we started to negotiate the deal," Beckman told Fox News.⁹

Beckman shot down reports claiming Amazon paid "nearly three times the nearest other bid."

"That's just false," Beckman said. "It was an incredibly competitive bidding process."¹⁰

Amazon bid on both the theatrical film and a three-part docuseries that will air on Prime Video.

The film launches one year after Mrs. Trump's memoir "MELANIA" became a New York Times bestseller.

Hollywood hates this for two reasons.

First, they can't stand seeing Brett Ratner rehabilitated after they destroyed him.

The entertainment industry made examples of men accused during MeToo.

Now the First Lady just handed one of their exiled directors the biggest documentary deal in history.

Second, they're watching Amazon — run by Jeff Bezos — pay $40 million for content celebrating Trump's return to power.

Bezos dined at Mar-a-Lago last month with President Trump and Elon Musk.

Amazon donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural committee.¹¹

Now Amazon is bankrolling a film giving viewers unprecedented access to the Trump family.

Hollywood spent eight years depicting Trump as a threat to democracy.

Now they have to watch this film premiere in theaters worldwide.

And there's nothing they can do about it.
