Mark Cuban Called Donald Trump’s Economic Policies Lunacy and Then Stood at His White House to Sell Them

May 21, 2026

In September 2024, Mark Cuban got on a Kamala Harris campaign call and told the world that Donald Trump's economic policies were "ridiculous" and "lunacy."

Monday, he stood next to Trump at the White House to help sell one of them.

And when reporters asked whether he regretted backing Harris, Cuban looked at the cameras and said: "I'm not going into my politics at all."

Trump Made Sure Nobody Missed It

The rollout was for TrumpRx.gov – the administration's initiative to slash the cost of 600 generic prescriptions by partnering with Amazon, GoodRx, and Cuban's own Cost Plus Drugs company.

Which means the man who called Trump's policies lunacy is now officially one of Trump's business partners.

Trump knew exactly what he had.

When a reporter called it "remarkable" to see the two of them sharing a stage, Trump looked right at Cuban and said: "Well, he made a mistake. It was a big mistake."

The crowd laughed.

Cuban laughed too.

That's a victory lap.

The Full Collapse

This isn't just one bad week for Cuban.

Everything he bet on in 2024 has since collapsed around him.

He campaigned across the country telling voters that Trump didn't understand tariffs, didn't understand trade, and had no idea what he was doing to the economy.

At a Harris rally in Wisconsin, Cuban mocked Trump for thinking China pays for tariffs and that Mexico would pay for the wall.

He called Trump's economic thinking fundamentally broken.

Then Trump won.

And it didn't stop there.

Cuban had sold the majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to the Adelson family – led by Miriam Adelson, one of Trump's biggest donors.

The new ownership promptly traded away Luka Dončić, one of the best players in the world.

Cuban went on a podcast and said: "I regret who I sold to."

So he lost the Mavericks.

He lost the election.

He lost the argument.

Monday he showed up at the White House, smiled for the cameras, and told reporters the only thing that matters is reducing the stress of the American people.

What Trump Just Proved

Here's what actually happened Monday, and it's bigger than Cuban.

Trump took a man who spent an entire year telling America his policies were dangerous and incompetent – and turned him into a prop for one of his signature healthcare wins.

Trump announced at the event that TrumpRx has already topped 10 million visits and saved American consumers over $400 million since its February launch.

Monday's expansion added 600 generic drugs to the platform – medications like atorvastatin, metformin, and lisinopril – with prices stripped of the insurance middlemen who have been gouging American families for decades.

Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs has been fighting that same battle since 2022, selling generics at cost plus 15% with no PBM markups and no insurance games.

Trump saw a model that works and scaled it with the full weight of the federal government behind it.

That's not lunacy.

That's exactly what winning looks like.

Mark Cuban spent a year explaining to America why Donald Trump couldn't be trusted on the economy.

He ended up proving the opposite – from a podium inside the building he tried to keep Trump out of.
