Chicago's immigration battles are getting uglier by the day.
Federal agents are doing their jobs while Democrats try to stop them.
And Lori Lightfoot just issued one chilling threat to Border Patrol that has Donald Trump seeing red.
Border Patrol Commander refuses to back down from Chicago operations
Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino made one thing crystal clear — federal immigration enforcement isn't leaving Chicago anytime soon.
Bovino posted a video on X declaring Border Patrol will be operating in the Windy City "for years" despite attacks from Democrat politicians and violent leftist protesters.
"If you think we're done with Chicago, you'd better check yourself before you wreck yourself," Bovino wrote. "Don't call it a comeback; we're gonna be here for years."¹
The post featured a video montage with LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" playing as Border Patrol agents conducted enforcement operations across Chicago.
Operation Midway Blitz has resulted in more than 4,300 arrests since September.²
That's thousands of illegal aliens removed from Chicago's streets.
Democrats running sanctuary cities thought they could protect illegal aliens from federal law enforcement.
Bovino's making them pay for that mistake.
Disgraced ex-Mayor fires back with unhinged attack
Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot — who destroyed the city during her failed tenure — couldn't resist responding to Bovino's post.
"Glory hound Greg Bovino cannot resist acting a fool in the third largest media market," Lightfoot ranted on X. "The actions of the CBP militia under his command have been unconstitional [sic] and shameful. Hey, Greg, your day of reckoning is fast approaching."³
Lightfoot can't even spell "unconstitutional" while accusing federal agents of breaking the law.
This is the same Lightfoot who presided over skyrocketing crime in Chicago while defending the city's sanctuary policies that protected criminal illegal aliens.
Back in 2020, Lightfoot defended sanctuary city status after a previously deported illegal alien was charged with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl at a McDonald's.⁴
She blamed ICE instead of the sanctuary policies that allowed the criminal to roam free.
Lightfoot's Chicago saw violent crime explode during her tenure as mayor.
The city recorded 498 homicides in 2019 when she took office, and hit 500 murders with three months still left in 2022.⁵
Now she's attacking Border Patrol for actually enforcing immigration law and removing criminal illegal aliens from Chicago streets.
Attorney General Pam Bondi puts Lightfoot on notice
Lightfoot previously announced she was creating something called the "ICE Accountability Project" — a database to track and "unmask" federal immigration agents.
Attorney General Pam Bondi responded by putting Lightfoot on notice during an interview on Jesse Watters Primetime.
"She will be getting a letter from us tomorrow to preserve anything she has done as well, to make sure that she's not violating the law," Bondi stated. "It appears she is. You cannot disclose the identity of a federal agent — where they live, anything that could harm them."⁶
Bondi made clear the Justice Department won't tolerate Democrats trying to intimidate federal officers doing their jobs.
"If they think I won't, they have not met me," Bondi added. "We will charge them if they are violating the law."⁷
The Attorney General also sent preservation letters to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Nancy Pelosi, and San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins for similar schemes to obstruct immigration enforcement.
Current Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson joined the insanity by endorsing "Abolish ICE" as the name for a city snowplow.⁸
Bovino fired back: "Oh oh, i've got a nomination for the mayor. Name the plow 'Reality Check' and paint it green while your [sic] at it. Johnson obsesses over Border Patrol it seems!!"⁹
These Democrat mayors spent years virtue signaling about being sanctuary cities.
Now that Trump's actually enforcing immigration law, they're panicking because their policies are being exposed as the disasters they always were.
Border Patrol operations in Chicago revealed that most detained illegal aliens don't have significant criminal records.¹⁰
But that misses the point entirely — they're all in the country illegally.
Democrats created sanctuary cities to protect illegal aliens from deportation.
Trump's Border Patrol is proving that federal law trumps local obstruction.
Bovino and his agents will keep arresting illegal aliens despite Democrat tantrums.
Attorney General Bondi will keep investigating Democrats who try to obstruct justice.
And Lori Lightfoot's threats won't change any of it.
