Melania Trump's documentary just had the biggest opening for a non-concert documentary in over a decade.
The First Lady's film pulled in $7 million at the box office, proving Americans are hungry to see her story.
Then a liberal theater owner in Oregon decided to use his marquee to mock her – and learned actions have consequences.
Lake Oswego Theater Owner Thought Mocking First Lady Melania Trump Would Be "Funny"
Jordan Perry manages the Lake Theater & Café in Lake Oswego, just outside Portland.
He admitted in a blog post that he thought showing "Melania" at his "obviously anti-establishment, occasionally troublemaking" theater would be funny.
Perry wrote on the theater's website: "I mean, it just seems so weird that it even exists (who wants a movie about Melania lol?)."
That's right – he actually typed "lol" when referring to the First Lady's life story.
Perry plastered his marquee with messages designed to mock Melania.
One read "Does Melania wear Prada? Find out Friday" – treating the First Lady's documentary like a fashion show joke.
Another quoted Sun Tzu's "The Art of War": "To defeat your enemy, you must know them. Melania starts Friday."
He literally called the First Lady of the United States an "enemy."
This is the same disrespect liberals show the Trump family every single day.
They make nude cartoons of the President on South Park, mock Barron Trump constantly, and now sneer at Melania's life story.
Amazon MGM Studios Pulled Melania Documentary After Theater Marquee Crossed The Line
Someone at Amazon saw Perry's marquee messages and called Monday.
The studio yanked "Melania" immediately.
"Got a call that the higher ups (i.e., at Amazon) were upset with how our marquee marketed their movie (i.e., Melania), that, per them, Sunday would be its last day here," the theater posted on Instagram.
Perry told The Oregonian that Amazon "was not happy and/or did not appreciate my take on marketing their film to our own public."
Here's what Perry doesn't understand – you don't get to disrespect the First Lady and act surprised when there are consequences.
Amazon spent $40 million acquiring the rights to "Melania" and another $35 million marketing it.
They weren't about to let some theater owner in liberal Portland turn their investment into a joke at Melania Trump's expense.
After the film got pulled, Perry replaced his marquee with passive-aggressive whining: "Amazon called. Our marquee made them mad. All Melania showings cancelled."
Because when liberals face consequences, they always resort to sarcasm instead of accountability.
Portland Oregon Theater Got Bombarded From Both Sides After Booking Documentary
Perry's fellow liberals in the Portland suburb flooded him with angry emails and voicemails demanding to know why he was screening a film about Trump's wife.
One Google review read: "Loved this theater until now. Deeply disappointed the business is supporting an administration that kills innocent Americans in the street. I will never be a patron again."
That's the unhinged rhetoric liberals use daily – claiming Trump "kills innocent Americans" while their prosecutors let violent criminals walk free.
Perry also caught heat from people who saw his marquee as disrespectful to the First Lady.
The theater's Instagram noted people were "disdaining our disparaging of her."
Now Perry's playing victim in both directions.
His liberal customers are furious he showed the film at all.
Normal Americans are disgusted he mocked the First Lady.
Perry wrote a blog post trying to justify himself: "I do not view our film programming as political."
That's a lie.
Everything about this was political – from booking a film he admits he finds weird, to calling the First Lady an "enemy," to mocking her with marquee messages.
This Is The Double Standard Trump Family Faces Every Day
You know what would have happened if a theater owner put "To defeat your enemy" on a marquee for Michelle Obama's documentary?
The media would have declared it a hate crime.
CNN would have done week-long coverage.
The theater would have been boycotted into bankruptcy within 48 hours.
But when it's Melania Trump?
Liberal theater owners think it's funny.
They call it "troublemaking" and expect applause for their clever marketing.
Melania Trump is an immigrant who speaks five languages, built a successful modeling career, raised a son in the public spotlight, and serves as First Lady with grace.
But Portland liberals see her as an acceptable target for mockery because she married Donald Trump.
Perry got exactly what he deserved when Amazon pulled that film.
Not because Amazon is some hero defending conservatism – Jeff Bezos is no friend to Trump.
But because even liberal corporations understand you don't let your product get turned into a weapon against the First Lady of the United States.
Perry wanted attention for being edgy and anti-establishment.
He got consequences instead.
