The FTC already warned Apple for doing the exact same thing to conservatives.
But now Google is doing it, too.
And the White House press secretary just put the whole country on notice about it.
The Numbers Google Doesn't Want You to See
The Media Research Center tracked every top story Google News served up each morning in February. Of the 487 articles measured, 314 came from left-leaning outlets.
Eleven came from the right.
Eleven.
That's 2.2 percent. Google ran zero conservative stories on 17 separate days.
When a right-leaning outlet did slip through, it appeared near the bottom of the list nearly half the time.
The four outlets that made the cut: Daily Mail, Fox News, New York Post, and the Bulwark.
The Daily Wire, Breitbart, the Daily Caller, the Daily Signal – shut out entirely for the month.
Meanwhile, Google promoted multiple Al Jazeera articles – Qatar-funded state media – while Fox News got one slot all month.
MRC President David Bozell called it exactly what it is. "Google can pretend to hide behind its algorithm all it wants," he said. "The fact that it followed Apple News's lead in suppressing right-leaning outlets tells you all that you need to know about the search giant's rampant anti-conservative bias."
Google's response was to attack the methodology.
A company spokesperson told Breitbart the report was "wildly inaccurate" because researchers checked results once a day from a single account.
That's their defense. They checked too consistently.
This Is a Pattern, Not a Glitch
This is not a coincidence.
This is a coordinated lockout running across every major tech news platform in America.
The MRC ran the same study on Apple News in January.
Apple served 440 articles from left-leaning outlets. Right-leaning outlets got zero – not a single story in 31 days.
The Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC News – all flooding through. Fox News and the New York Post – blocked completely.
That study went viral.
Trump amplified it. Elon Musk amplified it. FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson sent a formal warning letter to Tim Cook, telling Apple it may have violated federal consumer protection law by misleading users about what they were actually getting.
Apple blinked.
Their February numbers showed right-leaning outlets at 2 percent – up from zero, after a federal warning letter.
Now Google is sitting at 2.2 percent. Karoline Leavitt just did to Google what that FTC letter did to Apple.
What Google Controls and Why It Matters
Google News is the default news experience on Android phones.
It populates the feeds of hundreds of millions of users who never chose a single outlet.
A federal court ruled Google an illegal monopolist in August 2024 – finding the company used its market power to lock out competitors and paid billions to stay the default search engine everywhere.
The court imposed a six-year oversight framework in December 2025.
Now the MRC has documented how Google uses that monopoly to decide which political views Americans see when they check the news at 8:30 in the morning.

Google's Gemini AI, according to Breitbart's Wynton Hall in his book CODE RED, accused seven Republican senators, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio of so-called "hate speech."
The algorithm that surfaces news and the AI that labels conservatives as hate speakers are products of the same company.
Leavitt posted the MRC findings from her official White House press secretary account. She didn't propose a specific policy remedy. She didn't have to.
The FTC already showed what happens when these studies get official attention – Tim Cook got a warning letter and moved the needle inside a month.
Google just got the same megaphone pointed at them.
