The harpies on The View were some of Kamala Harris’ biggest cheerleaders in the media.
But an appearance on the show helped doom her Presidential campaign.
And Kamala Harris was speechless when The View confessed to one mistake that ruined her.
View co-host Sunny Hostin admits a question for Kamala Harris backfired in the worst way
When Vice President Kamala Harris appeared for an interview on ABC’s The View, she was entering friendly territory.
The co-hosts on the show may as well have worn her campaign gear every day with their constant cheerleading for her.
But a softball question on the daytime talk show ended up being a nightmare for Kamala.
Co-host Sunny Hostin asked her what she would do differently in the White House than President Joe Biden.
“There is not a thing that comes to mind,” Kamala replied.
Her answer was immediately turned into campaign ads by President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign.
Kamala tried to convince voters she was the candidate of change in the race and wouldn’t be another four years of Biden.
But that all went out the window with one answer on The View.
Kamala’s biggest cheerleaders played a key role in the downfall of her campaign.
Hostin admitted she was stunned that the Vice President botched such an easy question on the Behind the Table podcast.
“I followed up because I was surprised at the answer,” Hostin said. “Look, I think it wasn’t so much about the question, but it was really more about the answer. The reason I followed up was because that wasn’t a gotcha question. That was a layup, really.”
She thought that she set up Kamala to give an answer detailing how she would have governed differently than Biden.
“And I thought she would then say, ‘I would build on the wins we’ve had,’ and I had a laundry list of wins in my head, and she didn’t answer it that way, she said not a thing comes to mind,” Hostin stated. “I will just say I was surprised at the answer because it was a question that really could have been to her benefit, it was a question that could have been a change maker.”
James Carville credits The View with ending Kamala’s campaign
Veteran Democrat strategist James Carville said that the failure of Kamala’s campaign could be reduced to botching Hostin’s softball question on The View.
“I think if this campaign is reducible to one moment, we are in a 65% wrong-track country,” Carville said on the Bulwark podcast. “The country wants something different.”
Explaining why she would be different than Biden should have been a layup, according to him.
“And she’s asked, as is so often the case, in a friendly audience, on The View, ‘How would you be different than Biden?’ That’s the one question that you exist to answer, alright? That is it,” Carville explained. “That’s the money question. That’s the one you want. That’s the one that everybody wants to know the answer to. And you freeze! You literally freeze and say, ‘Well, I can’t think of anything.”
“That’s the most devastating answer you could imagine,” Carville added.
What should have been a softball interview on The View ended up becoming a nightmare for Kamala Harris.
