Armed cartel drones are controlling the skies around the border
Vice President Kamala Harris and her public relations team in the media are trying to whitewash her record as the “Border Czar” after she became the Democrat Presidential nominee.
President Joe Biden and Harris are asleep at the wheel as their border crisis takes a dangerous new twist.
Air Force General Gregory Guillot – the head of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) – told the Senate Armed Service Committee in March that more than 1,000 times in a month drones cross the southern border from Mexico into the United States.
“I don’t know the actual number — I don’t think anybody does — but it’s in the thousands,” Guillot said at the time.
“The number of incursions was something that was alarming to me as I took command last month,” Guillot added.
He warned that drone crossings at the southern border are a potential national security threat.
Now, a vicious cartel turf war has broken out near an Arizona town on the southern border.
Cartels are using drones for attacks
The New York Post reported that the Los Salazar faction of the Sinaloa Cartel is using drones “to drop explosives” on Los Pelones, a rival cartel in Mexico.
The Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector Intelligence Unit issued an internal communication that drones are the latest tactic in the bloody turf war between the rival cartels in the border city of Sonoyta, Mexico.
“Other confrontations between these two organizations have occurred along the border,” the communication stated.
U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) is worried that the threat posed by Mexican drones is being ignored.
She put an amendment to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act that would require the Defense Department to protect the border from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
“On Border Czar Kamala Harris’ watch, murderous drug cartels are controlling the southern border and using drones for turf war attacks within miles of the United States,” Ernst told the Post. “These thugs must be held accountable. That’s why I’m equipping the Pentagon to respond to these incursions by any means necessary.”
Senators warned in an opinion piece for The Washington Post that in April the country’s air defense is still geared toward the Cold War.
The country lacks the ability to track small, low-flying drones that cross into American airspace.
Cartels have been able to successfully use drones against the Mexican military.
The Jalisco drug cartel has killed and injured soldiers in the Mexican Army in the state of Michoacan with drone strikes.
Cartels are becoming multi-billion dollar businesses that can purchase sophisticated military equipment.
The use of drones is growing by the cartels as Mexico devolves into a full-scale war zone.
