Kamala Harris is putting up a brave front.
But behind the scenes it’s a completely different story.
And Kamala Harris’ handlers made this shocking admission about losing to Donald Trump.
Democrats second guess Kamala Harris
Time is a candidate’s most valuable resource.
It’s the one thing that’s finite and a campaign can’t get more of.
That’s why Democrats were left scratching their heads over how Kamala Harris spent her time with two weeks left in the campaign.
On October 22 and 23, Kamala Harris didn’t schedule any public events in the battleground states.
Journalist Mark Halperin told Newsmax that candidates who are leading lighten up their schedule at the end of a race to lessen the possibility of errors that would let the opponent back in the race.
But Halperin told Newsmax that Kamala Harris’ campaign thinks she’s currently losing to Donald Trump.
“Look, if she loses, there’ll be a lot of second-guessing of all sorts of decisions they made. And one of them will be what has been a light schedule. If she thinks she’s ahead — her campaign doesn’t think she’s ahead — but if they thought she was ahead, you could say she’s running out the clock, but she’s not ahead,” Halperin added.
On October 22 and 23, Kamala Harris sat for interviews with NBC and Telemundo and a town hall event televised by CNN.
Halperin explained that Kamala’s handlers had no choice but to take her off the trail for two days because Kamala requires extensive preparation for interviews.
“And so it’s a choice they’re making. I think a lot of it has to do with the amount of preparation time she wants and requires for the interview she’s doing today, for the town hall she has coming up, but there is head-scratching amongst Democrats, two weeks to go, someone who’s fighting for the presidency, and she’s spending the day in Washington,” Halperin added.
Kamala Harris’ schedule
Halperin said if Kamala Harris wanted to remain in Washington, D.C. to prepare, she could have taken a short train ride to do a quick event in Philadelphia to drive media coverage in a critical state.
“Again, a lot of Democrats also scratching their heads. You’d think it just, you know, jump on the Amtrak and go up to Philadelphia and do something. But the reality is, as Donald Trump proves when he does, you know, national events outside of the battleground states, that NBC News interview will get coverage everywhere,” Halperin added.
Kamala Harris did none of this.
Halperin figured that Kamala and her handlers believed these interviews would dominate the news cycle.
That turned out to be a fool’s errand as Kamala committed gaffe after gaffe in her NBC interview where she refused to break with Joe Biden, defended him as mentally competent, and threatened Christians that she would force religious hospitals to perform abortions.
Halperin said if Kamala loses – and Halperin predicted that the current trajectory of the early vote points to a Trump win – Democrats would look back at Kamala’s light campaign schedule as a major unforced error.
“And maybe she feels like that’s going to fill in the news cycle. But, like I said, if she loses, people are going to go over her schedule and wonder why she took so many days in Washington,” Halperin concluded.
