Joy Behar Said Something About Donald Trump on Live TV That May Cost Disney Its Broadcast License

Sep 20, 2026

ABC spent years telling the federal government that The View is serious journalism.

Joy Behar just blew that argument to pieces.

And Joy Behar said something about Donald Trump on live TV that may cost Disney its broadcast license.

What Behar Actually Said on Live Television

The setup was a Senate hearing clip – one the left-wing media chopped and edited to remove all context.

FBI Director Kash Patel was explaining something critical: the FBI's new hiring guidelines exist partly to help sex trafficking victims.

Women who were trafficked, forced into prostitution and bestiality by their captors, wanted to help other victims after escaping.

The old FBI rules barred them from service because of what was done to them.

Patel was fighting to fix that.

Louisiana Senator John Kennedy – whose dry wit has made senators squirm for years – turned the exchange into a moment of dark Senatorial humor about the absurdity of the old standards.

The View aired a heavily edited version that stripped every word of Patel's actual explanation.

Then Joy Behar said this on national television: "Okay, this is all about Trump in my opinion right now."

She followed up: "Unless you bought a zoo, I don't see the point."

On a show that ABC lawyers are right now arguing before the FCC deserves to be treated like Meet the Press.

The FCC Battle Disney Cannot Afford to Lose

ABC is locked in a fight before the Federal Communications Commission over whether The View qualifies for a "bona fide news" exemption – the legal designation that shields it from equal-time broadcast rules.

Disney filed a formal petition asking the FCC to grant that status, comparing the daytime talk show to Face the Nation and Meet the Press.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr – a Trump appointee – was already skeptical.

He had publicly called out Behar and co-host Sunny Hostin for dismissing sexual assault allegations against a Democrat Senate candidate while covering the same type of story relentlessly when Republicans were accused.

That was already a problem for Disney's petition.

Wednesday's broadcast – where a co-host implied the sitting president performs sex acts with animals – is going to be Exhibit A in whatever hearing comes next.

This Is a Pattern, Not a Slip

Behar has a history of saying exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong moment for ABC's legal position.

Carr cited Behar by name after she called Trump "jealous" of Barack Obama – comments that prompted the White House to fire back that Behar is "an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."

Carr warned at the time that "the consequences aren't quite finished."

Disney-owned ABC affiliates were already facing expedited license reviews – a process originally scheduled to run between 2028 and 2031 that got moved up dramatically after the network's repeated provocations.

ABC responded by launching an on-air campaign urging viewers to contact the FCC directly in their defense.

What Happens Next

Carr has the authority to recommend license non-renewal to the full FCC.

He has been methodical – documenting equal-time violations, cataloguing partisan coverage patterns, logging every Behar comment that undermines ABC's "bona fide news" argument.

Wednesday's segment did not just embarrass ABC.

It handed opponents of Disney's FCC petition exactly what they needed: evidence that The View is not journalism but partisan entertainment using a broadcast license to attack a sitting president – content that would get any employee of a real news organization fired before sundown.

The irony lands hard.

ABC's lawyers are arguing in federal filings that The View serves the public interest.

Joy Behar is on television the same week suggesting the president of the United States has sexual relations with zoo animals.

Disney built this problem one Behar rant at a time.

Now they are paying for it at the FCC.
