Fox News host stuns John Kennedy with defense of Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris has plenty of cheerleaders in the cable news world.
But U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) was shocked to find himself battling a Fox News host over her.
The colorful Louisiana lawmaker appeared on Your World with Neil Cavuto to discuss President Joe Biden’s proposed Supreme Court reforms.
Biden penned an opinion piece in The Washington Post that called for term limits for the Supreme Court, a new ethics code for the justices, and a constitutional amendment to eliminate immunity for crimes committed by a President in office.
His proposals are a reaction to the Supreme Court ruling that former President Donald Trump’s immunity from crimes committed while in office and the high court’s Republican-appointed majority.
Kennedy thought that Vice President Kamala Harris was behind the proposal.
“I don’t think President Biden’s proposal is really President Biden’s proposal. I think it’s Vice President Kamala Harris’ proposal,” Kennedy said. “When the president announced it, she immediately endorsed it enthusiastically. I think she’s asked him to take the lead so in case there’s blowback, it doesn’t get on her.”
He had one of his trademark colorful remarks lined up.
“Many Americans think that the Vice President is a little bit of a ding-dong,” Kennedy quipped. “That she’s not serious.”
Fox News host Neil Cavuto – who despises Trump – tried to shut him down.
“Well, this ding-dong, Senator, has risen in the polls,” Cavuto fired back. “And I’m wondering if the strategy to focus on her laugh, or the former President calling her ‘nasty’ and ‘crazy’ really promotes that push to show she’s not up to the job. Does it look petty? Does it say, to judge her on this level, looks like a strategy that could backfire on Republicans?”
John Kennedy is having none of it
Kennedy was going to be deterred by Cavuto trying to ride to the rescue of Harris.
He called the Vice President “a member of the loon-wing of the Democratic Party.”
“That member of the loon-wing is now dead even with Donald Trump in one [swing] state after another,” Cavuto ranted. “Now, I’m not saying that might last. I am saying that this loon is surging, and if the Republican approach to her is to treat her like a loon and a cackle, and she is just an empty suit, I wonder how far that’ll go.”
“Well, I’m sorry if that offends you Neil, but I’m just telling you what the people of America think,” Kennedy said.
Cavuto continued to defend Harris from being called a loon.
“The polling that I’ve seen shows that many Americans think that the Vice President is not a serious person. As I said, that she’s a bit of a ding-dong,” Kennedy stated. “And number two, that she is a member of the loony wing of the Democratic Party. She’s a San Francisco Democrat. She’s just like Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez. Except without the bartending experience.”
Fox News has at least one host that’s willing to play defense for Kamala Harris.
