John Fetterman continues to confound his own party.
Fetterman’s post-election posture isn’t what anyone on the Left was expecting.
And John Fetterman had a proposal for Donald Trump that no one ever predicted.
John Fetterman finds a way to defend Joe Biden pardoning Hunter Biden
Joe Biden sent the Democrat Party into complete disarray with his corrupt decision to pardon Hunter Biden for any crimes he may have committed dating all the way back to 2014.
The blanket pardon for Hunter Biden confirmed to many Republicans that Hunter Biden’s alleged criminal activity was potentially far more vast than the tax and gun charges he ended up facing.
Donors threatened to withhold funds from Joe Biden’s Presidential library.
Democrat Governors, Senators, and House members all slammed the pardon in an effort to create distance between themselves and an unpopular lame duck President.
But John Fetterman always was a Joe Biden stalwart.
Fetterman was one of the few Democrats who actually meant it when he defended Joe Biden staying in the race following Biden’s abysmal June 27 debate performance.
John Fetterman knows he can’t defend the Hunter Biden pardon on the merits.
That’s why Fetterman found an unrelated way to loop in the lawfare against Donald Trump to rationalize Biden allowing his son to get away with an alleged 11-year crime spree scot-free.
In an appearance on The View, Fetterman claimed Alvin Bragg’s case against Donald Trump and Hunter Biden was politically motivated, so both deserve a pardon.
“Well, I think it’s undeniable that the case against Hunter Biden was really politically motivated. But I also think it’s true that the trial in New York for Trump, that was political as well, too,” Fetterman began.
“And in both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate and I really think collectively, America’s confidence in these kinds of institutions have been damaged by these kinds of cases, and we cannot allow these kinds of institutions to be weaponized against our political opponents. And it’s very clear both trials were politically motivated and weaponized on the other side,” Fetterman added.
This was just Fetterman doubling down on what he told POLITICO earlier in the week.
“Those cases were clearly weaponized against them for political gain. That’s undeniable,” Fetterman stated. “That was always inappropriate in my opinion. And a pardon in both are appropriate. And, for me, that collectively has damaged America’s trust in these institutions.”
But Fetterman’s argument falls apart under just the slightest scrutiny.
The Biden Justice Department prosecuted Hunter Biden.
And Biden’s Justice Department only brought criminal charges against Hunter Biden because a federal judge ruled a sweetheart plea deal where Hunter Biden received lifetime immunity from any criminal prosecution was unconstitutional.
Americans do face charges similar to Hunter Biden.
No one can find a single example of anyone other than Donald Trump facing a county prosecutor indicting them on federal campaign finance charges.
Politics protected Hunter Biden until a judge forced the Justice Department to play the case straight.
Donald Trump was truly the victim of a situation where no one not named “Donald Trump” would face the charges Alvin Bragg brought.
