For weeks, First Lady Jill Biden urged Joe Biden to stay in the Presidential race.
Then Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed Kamala Harris.
And Jill Biden just said the last thing to Kamala Harris that anyone expected.
Jill Biden endorses Kamala Harris
On the day Joe Biden delivered an Oval Office address – where a visibly physically weakened Joe Biden never explained why he ended his re-election campaign – Jill Biden posted a note to social media endorsing Kamala Harris for President.
“To those who never wavered, to those who refused to doubt, to those who always believed, my heart is full of gratitude,” Jill Biden stated.
“Thank you for the trust you put in Joe–now it’s time to put that trust in Kamala. Love, Jill,” the First Lady added.
Jill Biden endorsing Kamala Harris was a “Hell freezes over” moment.
That’s because reporting indicated that one reason Jill Biden fought so hard for Joe Biden to stay in the Presidential race was because she abhorred the idea of Harris taking over.
“Jill holds grudges,” one source inside the Democrat Party told the Daily Mail. “She doesn’t let things go and she has never forgiven Kamala for comments that some took to be allegations.”
The source added that Jill Biden never wanted Harris on the ticket to begin with but saw she had no choice after Joe Biden said he would make DEI the main criteria of his pick.
“But she bit her tongue because Biden boxed himself into a corner by saying he would pick a black woman for his running mate,” the source added.
Why Jill Biden had it in for Kamala Harris
The tension between Jill Biden and Kamala Harris harkens back to the first Democrat Primary debate back in 2020.
In one memorable exchange, Harris attacked Biden as an out-of-touch racist after Biden praised working with segregationist Senators on school busing legislation.
“I’m going to now direct this at Vice President Biden: I do not believe you are a racist, and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground,” she said, looking over at him,” Harris began.
“But I also believe, and it’s personal—it was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States Senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country. And it was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing,” Harris added.
“And, you know, there was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools, and she was bused to school every day. And that little girl was me,” Harris concluded.
That debate rocketed Harris to first place in the polls – upon which she quickly imploded – but also generated hard feelings on the part of Jill Biden.
In Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns’ book This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future, the two described Jill Biden as not wanting Harris on the ticket.
“There are millions of people in the United States. Why . . . do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe?” Jill Biden reportedly said.
Jill Biden’s spokesman Michael LaRosa didn’t deny the account in a statement to POLITICO.
“Many books will be written on the 2020 campaign, with countless retellings of events – some accurate, some inaccurate. The first lady and her team do not plan to comment on any of them,” LaRosa wrote.
Democrats forced Biden out of the race in humiliating fashion.
And the final ignominy had to be the Bidens handing the baton to Harris, whom Jill Biden clearly doesn’t think very much of.
