Kamala Harris looks to the Soviet Union for policy
Vice President Kamala Harris has been in office for the last three and a half years.
During that time, prices surged after she cast the tie-breaking vote in 2021 for the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and the $1.2 trillion misnamed Inflation Reduction Act.
Inflation began to spike the month after the bill was passed and hit four-decade highs in the summer of 2022.
Democrat economist Larry Summers – who was former President Bill Clinton’s Treasury Secretary – warned it would cause inflation and called it the “least responsible macroeconomic policy we’ve had in the last 40 years.”
Kamala wants everyone to forget that she’s been in office on the campaign trail.
She unveiled the first policy proposal of her Presidential campaign to deal with the high prices in the grocery store.
Kamala proposed using the Federal Trade Commission to effectively force prices on grocery stores and food companies for alleged price gouging.
Price controls are a failed policy dusted off from the playbook of the Soviet Union.
Kamala’s Soviet-style economic agenda
Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary said Kamala’s price control scheme was “not American” during an appearance on the Fox News show Jesse Watters Primetime.
“Price fixing, we tried that in the seventies,” O’Leary explained. “That is beyond crazy. Can you imagine an America where there is a ministry of pricing for groceries that tells a farmer what an apple can be sold for and what you can buy it for? I mean, that is a horror film on Netflix no one has even written the script for it. That is not America.”
Gas lines and shortages occurred in the 1970s due to price controls under former President Jimmy Carter.
“Price-fixing was tried in Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, USSR in the late eighties,” O’Leary said. “It just reduces the supply like crazy. It’s a really bad idea.”
Artificially reducing the price of a good leads to a spike in demand, which causes shortages.
“When you talk about price-fixing groceries, you’re going to have to explain how you are going to do that,” O’Leary stated. “And I think that is what may fall down. I really need these policies and these ideas of which for example, $25,000 to an individual to buy a home in a constrained market? I’m a real estate guy that is beyond insane. The amount of inflation that would create, all of that capital that would go to the seller.”
Kamala also announced she wanted to give first-time homebuyers $25,000 from the government to help with their down payment.
A plan that would send the price of homes soaring after flooding the market with government money.
Kamala Harris wants to turn back the clock to the 1970s by reviving some of the worst policies of the failed Carter Presidency.
