Democrats are still in a state of shock over the outcome of the 2024 Election.
They’re trying to figure out where the party goes next.
And Jen Psaki gave Democrats a hard truth about the future that left everyone on edge.
Democrats are lost and without a leader following Donald Trump’s victory
The overwhelming victory by President-elect Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris left Democrats in disarray.
Democrats are picking up the pieces after a crushing defeat and trying to determine how to move forward.
Former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki gave Democrats the cold hard truth about where the party was at after the election during an appearance on MSNBC’s Meet the Press.
Host Kristen Welker asked her what the path forward for Democrats was with Trump returning to office.
“Look, I think Democrats are in the wilderness, as you just said before, there is no clear leader of the party,” Psaki said. “Joe Biden is going to be out of office shortly. Kamala Harris just lost the election.”
Democrats have no ready-made leaders to step in and replace Kamala and President Joe Biden on the national stage according to Psaki.
“There are a lot of governors and other people who might emerge maybe that we don’t know about yet, but there is no clear leader of the party right now,” Psaki admitted.
Democrats are already positioning themselves for the 2028 Election
Democrats have a large pool of Governors who are expected to throw their hat into the ring for the 2028 Election.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis have all positioned their states to fight back against the incoming Trump administration.
Psaki said Democrats will have to battle it out and see who emerges as new leaders in the party.
“That, to me is an opportunity because people have to decide,” Psaki stated. “Nobody’s given it, right. You seize the mantle or you don’t.”
The former Biden White House Secretary said that there are multiple strategies that Democrats could use during the Trump administration to emerge as leaders.
“Are you going to be the person who decides who’s the right person to stand up against Trump?” Psaki asked. “Or are you going to be the person who brings the country together? Are you going to be the person who talks about the economy and in ways that people understand? There are lots of ways to do it. I don’t know who’s going to emerge, but that’s the moment we’re in right now.”
Democrats will fight about the direction of the party while they figure out who their leaders are going forward.
They realize that they need to do a better job masking their far-left agenda under the cloak of moderation.
U.S. Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) laid out what many Democrats think the party should do to rebrand going forward.
“Any party — and I can only represent the Democratic Party — needs to focus on the things that keep people up at night. That’s their pocketbooks and their kids,” Slotkin.
She said that Democrats needed to ditch identity politics for the language of the assembly line.
Democrats know they need to hide their policies from voters because it’s becoming too toxic for most of the country.
