JD Vance Stunned Whoopi Goldberg When She Could Not Name One Erased Black History Example

Jun 18, 2026

Whoopi Goldberg once told America the Holocaust isn't about race.

On Tuesday she accused Vice President JD Vance of helping erase black history.

Then Vance asked her for one specific example and her answer stunned the room.

Goldberg Demanded Answers Then Couldn't Give Any

Whoopi Goldberg looked at the sitting vice president of the United States and accused him of stigmatizing black Americans.

She never got more specific than "all kinds of stuff happened."

Vance turned the question back on her, asking what she actually meant.

The exchange dissolved into crosstalk instead of producing an answer.

Goldberg invoked Emmett Till's name without ever clarifying which monument, museum, or policy she was even talking about.

She closed her point by telling Vance he should know better, and her audience applauded the line, not any evidence behind it.

Sunny Hostin piled on with her own checklist of grievances – redistricting, leadership representation, a vague sense that black Americans don't fit the administration's vision – and never landed on a specific example either.

Ana Navarro pivoted to refugee policy, claiming white South Africans make up most of the refugees admitted since October.

Vance said flatly that he doubted her number, noting the country runs on dozens of legal immigration pathways.

Three women accused the vice president of stigmatizing black Americans, dismantling their political representation, and erasing their history – and not one of them could produce a single fact to back it up.

Vance Hit Back With Numbers Whoopi Never Touched

Vance didn't dodge the question – he pivoted straight into the data.

He pointed to Washington D.C., one of the most heavily black cities in America by population, where violent crime, sexual assault, and murder have all dropped sharply.

He pushed back hard, telling the table his administration honors black history alongside every other chapter of the American story.

He never mentioned it on air, but his administration is steering $500 million toward historically black and tribal colleges even as it trims funding elsewhere for diverse-student programs.

That's not erasure – that's the opposite of erasure, and Whoopi never brought it up.

Vance happens to sit on the Smithsonian Board of Regents – the body that actually decides what stays in those museums.

Trump's order has a name – "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History" – and its actual target, by its own language, is ideology and divisive framing, not black history itself.

Whoopi never engaged with the order's actual language, because that language doesn't fit her story.

The Pattern Nobody At That Table Wanted To Admit

This isn't the first time Goldberg built a moral case on nothing solid.

Back in 2022, she sat at that same table and stunned her own co-hosts with the claim that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race.

Joy Behar turned to her on air and asked, "What is it about?"

ABC suspended her for two weeks because the claim was very wrong.

The pattern on Tuesday was identical – a big accusation, no proof, and a refusal to let facts slow down a good villain story.

Twitchy summed up the entire exchange in two words: "GRRL, BYE."

The same outlets cheering Goldberg's performance somehow skipped the part where she never answered the question she raised.

By Tuesday night Vance was on Gutfeld! laughing about the whole thing, joking that the hosts barely lived up to the vicious reputation he had braced for.

He revealed Joy Behar told him during a commercial break that he was "pretty good for a Republican."

He also said he had expected Sunny Hostin to call him racist, and seemed amused that it was Whoopi who got there first instead.

The real lesson from Tuesday's mess is simple: when you can't name the thing you claim is outrageous, you're not actually defending history.

You're defending a narrative the facts stopped cooperating with a long time ago.
