JD Vance Called It Communism and 242 Congressional Democrats Were Too Scared to Disagree

Jul 5, 2026

New York socialists just knocked out two sitting members of Congress and nobody in Democrat leadership said a word.

Then Vance went on Fox News and said the one word Democrats refuse to use.

What he called their movement – and what 242 of their own colleagues couldn't bring themselves to deny – is something else entirely.

What the DSA Actually Believes

This isn't a debate about tax rates.

The Democratic Socialists of America – the organization running these winning candidates – just adopted a platform called "Workers Deserve More!" that calls for abolishing the U.S. Senate, replacing the President and Supreme Court with bodies subordinate to Congress, and eliminating what they call the "carceral forces of the capitalist state."

That last phrase is a fancy way of saying abolish the police.

Darializa Avila Chevalier, one of the three New York winners backed by socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has been even blunter about it.

"No. It means ending policing full stop. Period. No more police at all ever," she posted online during the defund-the-police debate.

She also called for a world without borders – and without prisons.

That is who just won a Democrat congressional primary in New York, with Mamdani's full endorsement and the DSA's full backing.

Vance went on The Ingraham Angle Tuesday night and called it what it is.

"It is communism, Laura," he said. "This is not, you know, this is not raising taxes a little bit. This is abolishing the police. This is letting criminals run amok in your cities. This is flooding your country with low-wage third-world immigrants."

Trump Called Schumer Out by Name for His Silence

Of 257 Democrats in Congress, only 15 signed a coalition statement declaring "we are capitalist, not socialist" and "we want safety, not lawlessness."

Fifteen.

That means more than 90 percent of congressional Democrats couldn't bring themselves to sign a piece of paper saying they oppose socialism – even as DSA candidates knock off their colleagues in primaries.

Trump called that cowardice out by name.

"I watch Schumer, he's afraid to fight," Trump told reporters at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference Friday. "They're afraid they're going to lose their election if they even think about saying anything bad about this new breed of sick people."

He's right.

Chuck Schumer has been completely silent as the radical left devours his party from inside.

Hakeem Jeffries reportedly cut a deal with Mamdani to protect his own seat from a primary challenge – meaning even Democratic House leadership is now playing defense against the socialists, not offense.

Vance put the blame exactly where it belongs.

"This is a consequence of the fact that the Democrat Party has become run by the universities and by the professors," he said. "This is not working-class, union Democrats."

This Is Not Stopping in New York

Mamdani went on ABC News Sunday and declared that democratic socialists "can get elected anywhere across this country for any position."

He's not wrong – at least not yet.

The DSA's membership has doubled since his 2025 mayoral win, reaching 100,000 members nationally.

Janeese Lewis George, another DSA member, is about to become mayor of Washington, D.C.

In Los Angeles, DSA-backed Nithya Raman has advanced to a runoff against the incumbent mayor.

And the DSA platform doesn't just want free college and Medicare for All – it wants to draft an entirely new constitution and build, in their own words, a "democratic socialist republic" from the ground up.

Trump told the Faith and Freedom crowd Friday that the Democrat Party "is in trouble because this isn't stopping with New York."

He called it the biggest threat to the country since its founding – bigger than World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor, and September 11.

The platform Mamdani's allies are advancing calls for open borders, amnesty for all illegal immigrants, full voting rights for noncitizens, abolishing ICE, ending all deportations, and closing overseas military bases.

That's not a policy disagreement – that's a movement to dismantle the country.

Vance said it plainly: "This is fundamentally a view that the United States is an evil country that must be dismantled from the ground and then built back up. That's communism at its core."

Rep. Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington state, admitted on CNN that the DSA agenda "is not popular in this country" and "frankly, not good policy."

That's the first honest thing a Democrat has said about their own party in months.

And if Schumer won't say it, Republican candidates in every swing district should be repeating it on a loop from now until November.
