A Court Followed the Rules and She Called It a Coup
Crockett told Hayes the Supreme Court killed democracy by declining to intervene in the Texas redistricting fight just four days before the filing deadline closed.
The Court looked at the case and said: too close to the deadline, we're not touching it.
That's it.
That's the free fall.

No – a court that declined to scramble a state election calendar at the last minute is what Jasmine Crockett calls democratic collapse.
This is the new Democrat playbook: every court that rules against them is corrupt, every map that favors Republicans is racist, and every election they lose is evidence the system is broken.
The Woman Who Fled Texas Twice Is Lecturing You About Democracy
In 2021, Crockett helped organize a walkout that sent 57 Texas Democrats fleeing to Washington rather than vote on legislation they opposed.
That's not a protest. That's abandoning the job voters sent you to do.
Then in August 2025, she cheered a second walkout – Democrats scattering to Illinois, Boston, and Albany – posting "Deuces!" on Instagram while civil arrest warrants went out for her former colleagues.
A Beto O'Rourke-backed group contributed $600,000 to cover expenses during the first walkout. Democrat megadonors were standing by to cover $500-a-day fines for the second.
This is what they call "fighting for democracy" – getting paid by millionaire donors to skip town and deny the legislature the ability to function.

When you win elections: govern. When you lose: flee, sue, and go on cable news.
Crockett has done all three. Multiple times.
Her Own Party Already Gave the Verdict
The most revealing part of this story isn't the MSNBC appearance.
It's what happened in March.
Crockett ran for U.S. Senate in Texas and lost the Democrat primary by eight points – to a state representative.
She had $3.7 million in her war chest. She had national name recognition.
She had Kamala Harris's endorsement.
James Talarico beat her with 53 percent of the vote.
Her own donors started peeling away. Democrat strategists said publicly her brand was too toxic for a statewide race.
Her own campaign, according to people familiar with it, was overconfident – certain her celebrity would carry her past someone who'd been quietly doing the work.

Sound familiar?
The same woman who skipped the legislative process in Texas, who posted "Deuces!" when her colleagues fled the state, who went viral attacking Republicans instead of passing bills – that woman just got rejected by Texas Democrats before Republicans even had a chance to weigh in.
And now she's on MSNBC explaining why democracy is failing.
Democracy isn't failing. Jasmine Crockett is failing. Those are different things.
What This Is Actually About
Texas has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980.
Trump won it by 13 points in 2024.
But in Crockett's telling, the maps are rigged, the courts are corrupt, and the voters who keep choosing Republicans are being manipulated.

Texas is a conservative state. Conservatives win Texas elections.
When Democrats flee the state, lose in court, lose primaries, and lose general elections – that's not democratic collapse.
That's democracy working.
The walkouts didn't stop redistricting. The lawsuits didn't flip the maps. The Senate run ended in an eight-point primary loss.
At some point you have to ask: if Jasmine Crockett keeps losing, is it because the system is broken – or because Texas just disagrees with her?
