Ilhan Omar claims Haitian illegal aliens are reviving Springfield, Ohio
Springfield, Ohio has become the latest flashpoint in the battle over illegal immigration during the Presidential election.
The Biden-Harris administration sent nearly 20,000 illegal aliens from Haiti to the city of almost 60,000 residents.
Springfield residents have spoken out about the devastation that the Haitians are causing in their community.
But the Left is trying to change the narrative about the city.
Democrats and their media allies try to present the Haitians as the saviors of a dying Rust Belt city.
Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) – an immigrant from Somalia – tried to claim at a press conference that Springfield’s new Haitian residents “breathed a new life” into the city.
“I know, as an immigrant, what it feels to have a light shined on your community that threatens your very existence as you come into a country seeking safety after you’ve survived a tremendous journey,” Omar claimed. “I know what it means for the hopes and aspirations that you have in being welcomed into your new community be dashed, and so I deeply feel for our Haitian immigrants.”
The Left frames the story as Springfield about the backlash the Haitians have experienced, not what the longtime residents of the city have to suffer through.
“These are people who have revived and breathed a new life into a community that was desperately seeking change,” Omar ranted.
No one asked the residents of Springfield if they wanted the population of their city to swell by nearly one-third in a short period of time.
Omar took a shot at former President Donald Trump and his running mate, U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), for spotlighting the problems caused by Haitians in Springfield.
“And for us to want to be seen by the world as such and not be seen through the lens of small men like Trump and J.D. Vance, who have so much insecurities, that instead of uplifting people that they want to put them down,” Omar whined.
The victims, to Omar and the Left, are the Haitians, not the Springfield residents who had their town upended by them.
J.D. Vance blasts the media for their coverage of Springfield
Vance ripped the media for its coverage of Springfield during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press.
“The media and the Kamala Harris campaign, they’ve been calling the residents of Springfield racist, they’ve been lying about them,” Vance explained. “They’ve been saying that they make up these reports of migrants eating geese, and they completely ignore the public health disaster that is unfolding in Springfield at this very minute.”
The Ohio lawmaker noted that it was Trump who brought attention to the story.
“Donald Trump is the only person who brought Springfield to national attention, and is the only President who’s going to fight for the residents, not just their right to live safely in their communities, but for their right to complain about what’s going on in their own community,” Vance said.
“I think it’s disgraceful that Kamala Harris has heard these complaints, has decided to call people racist instead of actually trying to make their lives better by undoing her open border,” Vance added.
The media doesn’t want the political discussion during the election to be about the traffic consequences of illegal immigration to protect Vice President Kamala Harris.
That’s why they’re furiously working to flip the script.
