Trump's federal crackdown on the Minnesota fraud scandal has Democrats in full panic mode.
Federal agents flooded into Minneapolis to investigate billions in welfare fraud targeting programs meant to feed children and help vulnerable families.
And Ilhan Omar just complained about "wasting taxpayer resources" amid the massive fraud investigation and revealed what she's really worried about.
Omar Attacks Federal Investigation Into Minnesota Welfare Fraud Scandal
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar went on MS NOW Sunday and threw a fit about the federal law enforcement presence in Minneapolis.
Omar claimed Trump's administration is "wasting taxpayer resources" by investigating the welfare fraud scandal and conducting immigration enforcement.
"Again, I'm so exhausted in trying to ask, what any of this, you know, information has led to you finding any criminals that you have indicted, that explains why you are wasting so much of our taxpayer resources?" Omar told host Ayman Mohyeldin.
The irony is absolutely stunning.
Omar is lecturing anyone about wasting taxpayer money while her district has been ground zero for the $9 billion Minnesota fraud scandal.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer held hearings this week where he revealed 98 defendants have been charged in Minnesota fraud cases.
Eighty-five of them are of Somali descent.
Sixty-four have already been convicted.
Fraudsters stole from children's meal programs, autism therapy services, housing assistance for low-income families, and Medicaid healthcare.
Federal prosecutors charged 78 people in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme alone, which stole over $250 million meant to feed children during COVID.
Prosecutors say the food never reached children.
The stolen money paid for luxury cars, real estate, and foreign bank accounts.
Some funds allegedly went to terrorist groups overseas.
Omar insisted there hasn't been a single new indictment under Trump, conveniently ignoring that existing cases came from investigations that started during Biden's administration but are being aggressively pursued now.
She attacked the federal presence itself rather than condemning the criminals.
"And also terrorizing our communities in the amount of federal law enforcement agents that you have in the streets of our city and our state," Omar said.
Wait a minute.
Federal agents investigating the $9 billion welfare fraud scandal is "terrorizing communities"?
That's what you say when you're worried about what investigators might find.
Omar's Connections To Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme Exposed
Omar pushed the MEALS Act in 2020 that stripped away oversight requirements, creating opportunities for the massive welfare fraud scandal.
Video from 2020 shows Omar at Safari Restaurant celebrating the Feeding Our Future program during the active theft.
The restaurant's co-owner was arrested in March 2025 for his role in the scheme.
Two men who donated $5,400 to Omar's campaign were later convicted in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Omar held her 2018 victory party at their restaurant.
A former associate of Omar's campaign, Guhaad Hashi Said, pleaded guilty to running a fake food site.
Omar's deputy district director Ali Isse defended Feeding Our Future at a 2021 gala while state officials were flagging serious deficiencies.
He accused investigators of racism for asking too many questions and rallied the "community" to stick together.
Now Omar wants everyone to believe federal agents investigating this massive theft are the real problem.
House Oversight Investigation Into Minnesota Fraud Expands
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced Sunday that hundreds more federal agents are heading to Minneapolis.
The surge follows the ICE shooting of Renee Good last week during an enforcement operation.
DHS claims Good "weaponized her vehicle" and attempted to run over an officer.
Her defenders claim she was trying to get away and the agent used improper force.
Protests erupted across Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Portland, and New York following the shooting.
Omar sided with protesters attacking federal law enforcement over agents doing their jobs.
She demanded justification for the federal presence while ignoring billions in documented fraud.
House Oversight is now investigating whether Minnesota officials, including former Governor Tim Walz, covered up the welfare fraud scandal to protect their political allies in the Somali community.
Comer's committee sent letters to Walz and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison demanding documents about what they knew and when they knew it.
The Treasury Department is investigating whether stolen welfare funds were funneled to al-Shabaab terrorists.
Look, Omar's real problem isn't wasted resources.
Her problem is federal investigators are finally examining the Minnesota fraud scandal that flourished in her district while she championed the programs being exploited.
The woman lecturing Trump about wasting taxpayer money saw her net worth jump from $65,000 to over $30 million in recent years on a Congressional salary of $175,000.
Her husband's venture capital firm mysteriously increased in value from $5 million to $25 million in one year.
The firm just scrubbed names of officers from its website amid the fraud investigations.
Maybe federal investigators should expand their probe to include exactly how that happened.
Trump campaigned on ending sanctuary cities and cracking down on fraud in government programs.
Now he's delivering exactly what he promised.
And Democrats like Omar are furious that their political allies finally face accountability.
