Liz Cheney thought she'd survive in Wyoming politics by siding with Nancy Pelosi.
That gamble ended in total disaster.
And Harriet Hageman just made one announcement that should terrify every RINO.
Trump's Biggest Victory Is Going to Washington
Four days after Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis announced she wouldn't seek re-election in 2026, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman launched a Senate campaign that sent shockwaves through the Republican establishment.
Hageman grabbed national headlines in 2022 when she crushed Liz Cheney by more than 30 points in the Republican primary for Wyoming's House seat.¹
Cheney made the fatal mistake of voting to impeach Donald Trump and serving as vice chair of Nancy Pelosi's January 6 Committee.
Wyoming voters delivered a verdict that made political history.
Hageman demolished Cheney 66.3% to 28.6% — one of the worst primary defeats any House incumbent has suffered in six decades.²
Cheney raised $15 million, mostly from out-of-state Never-Trumpers, while Hageman spent less than one-quarter of that amount.³
It didn't matter.
Wyoming voters wanted a congresswoman who represented them, not someone obsessed with destroying Donald Trump.
Now Hageman's taking that same America First message to the Senate.
"President Trump's America First movement made it popular to say you want to Make America Great Again, and he continues to deliver on that promise," Hageman said in her campaign launch video. "It would be a great honor to keep advancing the America First agenda in the Senate, as it has been in the House."⁴
Wyoming Finally Gets Another Fighter
Hageman praised Lummis for her service but made clear Wyoming needs someone ready to hit the ground running on day one.
"Cynthia Lummis leaves a legacy of over four decades of principled, conservative leadership, and Wyoming and America are better for it," Hageman stated.⁵
Hageman's not looking for on-the-job training in the Senate.
She's spent two terms fighting the Biden administration on the House Judiciary and Natural Resources committees, battling federal overreach her entire career as an attorney specializing in water and property rights.
"So much of the bad policy that's affected Wyoming over the last 20 years has come out of Washington, D.C.," Hageman told reporters.⁶
Democrats and establishment Republicans spent decades crushing Wyoming's energy industry, strangling ranchers with regulations, and treating Western states like federal colonies.
Hageman pledged to end that.
"I will always defend Wyoming's ability to access, manage and use our natural resources to fuel our economy," she said. "We must ensure that Wyoming remains a leader in energy and food production to help us maintain our way of life."⁷
The Establishment Should Be Terrified
Two-term Governor Mark Gordon is thought to be considering a Senate run, but he's term-limited as governor and some Wyoming conservatives view him as too establishment.
Hageman received her first endorsement within 30 minutes of her announcement from Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder.
"Rep. Hageman first ran for Congress in a time that we needed someone to represent Wyoming, not their personal interests," Degenfelder said. "On day one she brought back representation on the most impactful committee to Wyoming, the House Natural Resource Committee, and fulfilled countless promises to the Wyoming people."⁸
The contrast is stark.
Hageman represents a new generation of conservative fighters who don't apologize for defending traditional American values.
She took on Liz Cheney when the entire Washington establishment backed Cheney.
She won reelection in 2024 with 74% of the vote.⁹
And she did it by standing with Trump and Wyoming voters instead of caving to pressure from the media and Never-Trump Republicans.
Wyoming hasn't had a Democrat win statewide since 2006.
Trump carried Wyoming by 46 points in 2024.¹⁰
Republican Senator John Barrasso won reelection by 51 points.
Hageman's going to cruise to victory in this Senate race unless establishment Republicans try to sabotage her in the primary.
But after what happened to Cheney, that seems unlikely.
Hageman's message to Washington is crystal clear.
Wyoming's done with representatives who care more about praise from the New York Times than defending their constituents.
And that should terrify every RINO in America.
