Hakeem Jeffries Just Told You What Democrats Will Do the Moment They Win the House

Sep 19, 2026

Al Green has been trying to impeach Donald Trump since 2017.

Now he's gone – and his going-away gift just exposed every Democrat who voted with him.

But Hakeem Jeffries just told you what Democrats will do the moment they win the House.

147 Democrats Voted to Impeach Trump Over ICE Doing Its Job

Green filed articles of impeachment over ICE enforcement actions – specifically citing four deaths during immigration operations this year.

The full House Democrat leadership – Hakeem Jeffries included – refused to whip the vote.

They voted "present."

That's Washington, DC speak for "we agree with you but don't want to be caught agreeing with you."

But 147 rank-and-file Democrats went further.

They voted to impeach Donald Trump, again, weeks before midterm elections, over ICE doing its job.

Those are the people you need to know about.

This Is the Sixth Time This Man Has Tried This

Green first filed impeachment articles against Trump in December 2017 – when Republicans controlled the House and it had zero chance of going anywhere.

He tried twice more during Trump's first term, in March and July of 2019.

He filed again in June 2025 over the Iran airstrikes, and again in December 2025 over Trump allegedly threatening Democrat lawmakers through a social media video.

Every single time, his own party's leadership has told him to stop.

Nancy Pelosi told him to stop.

Hakeem Jeffries told him to stop.

His colleagues told Axios – anonymously and with language that would get your grandchildren grounded for a month – to stop.

"It's f***ed up," one senior House Democrat said this week.

"There's a reason why Al Green isn't coming back," said another. "This is exactly what people don't want."

Green lost his primary to a fellow Democrat in May.

He's leaving Congress in January.

And his going-away present to his party was forcing 147 of them to go on record supporting his impeachment crusade – right before Election Day.

Jeffries Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

Here is Hakeem Jeffries explaining why he voted "present" instead of no: "Impeachment is a sacred constitutional vehicle designed to hold a corrupt executive accountable for abuse of power, breaking the law and violating the public trust."

Then he listed what impeachment actually requires – thousands of documents, dozens of witnesses, congressional hearings, sustained public organizing – and said none of that work had been done.

Read that again slowly.

He's not saying Trump shouldn't be impeached.

He's saying they haven't built the case yet.

He's describing the Democrat Party's midterm playbook – not a principled objection to impeachment itself.

If Democrats win the House in November, Jeffries just told you exactly what comes next.

Democrats Called ICE a Paramilitary Force for Enforcing the Law

Green's resolution accused Trump of running ICE as a "quota-driven, unaccountable paramilitary police force."

These are federal agents enforcing federal immigration law.

They are not a paramilitary force.

They are the reason the border isn't what it was under Biden.

The Left wants you to forget that – so they turned the agents into the villain and the people they were detaining into the victims.

One hundred and forty-seven House Democrats agreed with that framing enough to vote on it in public.

That's the party that wants to run the government again.

The Pattern That Never Changes

Every single time Democrats have been out of power and Al Green has tried this, the party's response has been identical: stop, you're hurting us, wait until we win.

Not stop, this is wrong.

Not stop, Trump hasn't done anything impeachable.

The concern is always timing, never substance.

In 2019, Democrats feared impeachment would boost Trump's re-election numbers.

In 2025, they feared it would distract from their economic message.

In 2026, they're terrified it will hand Trump voters a reason to show up in November.

They're right about all of it.

They just don't realize that voters can hear them saying it.

But 147 Democrats told you exactly what they believe – and Jeffries told you exactly what they're planning.

Write their names down.
