Tim Walz let fraudsters steal $250 million meant to feed children – and walked away without a scratch.
Now he's lecturing the world about American authoritarianism.
Now Gutfeld just said the four words Walz will never live down.
The Speech That Earned the Label
Walz took the stage at the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Barcelona on April 18, delivering a keynote alongside the presidents of Brazil and South Africa – two countries where governance has become a masterclass in failure.
He told the crowd America was living under "a massive paramilitary force terrorizing our communities" and accused Trump of running a "methodical weakening of our free press."
Then came the line that made Gutfeld reach for the word "traitor."
"We've got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present, with no clear objectives and no exit plan," Walz said.
The crowd loved it.
Gutfeld didn't.
On The Five Monday, Gutfeld delivered the takedown in one sentence: "Walz goes to a foreign country to bash the president of the United States, and he's the only governor in American history to have his state conquered by pirates."

He wasn't done.
"It's like he is the last guy anybody should listen to," Gutfeld continued. "He's like a teenager that goes on a message board, like Reddit or something, to bash Sydney Sweeney."
"It's therapy for the unpopular."
Then came the verdict – blunt, clean, and devastating.
"If Walz goes abroad to bash Trump, he's also bashing America because he's the agent for America, and he's seeking out an audience that actually appreciates it," Gutfeld said. "He is, in effect, a traitor. But we already knew that."
The Record He Flew Away From
Walz didn't just lose Minnesota's welfare system to fraud – he watched it happen and called anyone who noticed a racist.
The Feeding Our Future scandal saw $250 million stolen from programs meant to put food on children's plates – the largest COVID-era aid fraud ever charged in this country.
FBI Director Kash Patel described it as money stolen "from hungry kids during a pandemic to fund mansions and luxury cars."
Prosecutors now estimate the broader fraud network across 14 Minnesota Medicaid programs could top $9 billion.
The Washington Post's own editorial board – no friend of Trump – torched Walz for "refusing to take responsibility for the welfare fraud that happened in plain sight during the pandemic."
So what did Walz do?
His administration knew fraud was happening and backed off – the state's own legislative auditor later confirmed that threats of a racial discrimination lawsuit had a "chilling effect" on oversight.
When the scandal exploded nationally, Walz said he'd "spent years cracking down on fraudsters" and blamed Republicans for politicizing the issue.
Then he announced he wouldn't seek a third term.

Then he boarded a plane to Barcelona.
What Treason Looks Like Without the Legal Definition
Gutfeld was careful with "in effect" – but the behavior needs no legal definition to be recognized.
There is a tradition in American politics older than either man: you don't walk onto foreign soil and hand America's enemies the exact attack lines they need against your own president.
Walz knew exactly what audience he was playing to.
The Barcelona conference was explicitly designed, in its own words, as "a necessary alternative to conservative and far-right forces" – meaning its purpose was to coordinate opposition to the very president Walz was there to attack.
Six thousand international leftists, the presidents of Brazil and South Africa, Bernie Sanders on video – and Walz standing at the center of it all, delivering the attack lines.
The man who let billions vanish from Minnesota's welfare system now wants to be the face of global resistance to American strength.
Gutfeld nailed the absurdity in one line: "The only way he can get any recognition is if they don't recognize him."
They don't know what he did in Minnesota.
And Walz is counting on it.
