Sarah Spain spent years attacking conservatives on ESPN before they finally showed her the door.
Now she's at the Milano Cortina Olympics – and the Vice President showed up to support American athletes.
What happened next reveals exactly how Trump Derangement Syndrome has destroyed the left's ability to process basic reality.
Spain's Meltdown At Milano Cortina 2026 Women's Hockey Game
Spain was watching Team USA play Czechia when Vice President Vance arrived with security.
"Twelve minutes into the first period, that area suddenly is awash with large men in suits with earpieces, and here comes J.D. Vance carrying a child and a bunch of the security, and eventually Marco Rubio," she said on her podcast.
The Vice President attended an Olympic hockey game – and Spain acted like he'd personally ruined her entire trip to Italy.
She didn't stop there.
ESPN Host Felt 'Ill' Seeing Vice President At Team USA Olympics Match
"When I see J.D. Vance's eyeliner face, I literally feel ill," Spain said.
Then came the line that perfectly captures how broken these people have become.
"I feel like I just looked at a demon, like the devil, and I don't even believe in that, but like my body felt like… something could go wrong here, or maybe I should get out of here. Something's dangerous, or this doesn't feel right."
She admitted she doesn't even believe in the devil – but her body reacted to seeing the Vice President like he posed an actual physical threat.
This is the same woman who spent years lecturing Americans about "toxic masculinity" and telling sports executives that audiences of "old white dudes" are "going to die" and "no one will be left."
Sarah Spain Said Secret Service At Winter Olympics Made Her Feel Unsafe
She felt "dangerous" and thought "something could go wrong" – while standing near the most protected people in that entire arena.
Secret Service was right there.
The safest spot in that building was exactly where she was sitting.
But her hatred of Trump and Vance is so consuming that her brain couldn't process basic reality – federal agents whose job is stopping threats actually make you safer, not less safe.
Spain Brought Up Alex Pretti Minneapolis Shooting Controversy
Spain brought up Alex Pretti – the Minneapolis man shot during an ICE operation last month after showing up to protests with a gun.
"Just this morning, I swiped past a story on my Instagram that said 'J.D. Vance refuses to apologize for lies about Alex Pretti,'" Spain said.
The Instagram story she consumed already called them "lies" in the headline.
She only sees media that confirms what she already believes.
Spain admitted she's "not on Twitter anymore" and only uses Bluesky – the liberal echo chamber where everyone agrees with each other and no one challenges their worldview.
When people tell you they live in a bubble, believe them.
ESPN's Spain Posted Photo Of JD Vance's Children At Olympics
Spain posted a photo of Vance with his kids and wrote: "Ope just vomited in my mouth."
The Vice President's children became targets for her rage simply because their father holds political views she despises.
She attacked Vance for calling Pretti someone who "showed up with ill intent" to the ICE operation.
Multiple videos from days before his death show Pretti in confrontations with federal agents.
Vance told reporters he wouldn't apologize and wouldn't "prejudge" the investigation into the shooting.
Spain treats a highly disputed situation as settled fact – while screaming about due process for illegal immigrants but offering none for law enforcement trying to do their jobs.
Sarah Spain's History Of Controversial Statements At ESPN
She called Tampa Bay Rays players "bigots" in 2022 for citing religious beliefs about not wearing pride patches.
She blamed "white men" for Trump's 2016 victory – literally starting her ESPN show "nearly in tears" the morning after Election Day.
She told radio executives they need to stop appealing to "old white dudes" because they're all going to die anyway.
When ESPN finally canceled "Around the Horn" – where she spent years pushing left-wing talking points instead of covering sports – she complained the network was "scared of getting called woke."
The lack of self-awareness is staggering.
What This Actually Reveals
Spain's Olympics meltdown isn't really about Vance.
It's about what happens when you spend years consuming only media that confirms your beliefs, surrounding yourself only with people who agree with you, and treating political opponents as literal demons.
Your brain stops working correctly.
You feel physically threatened by the presence of the Vice President – while standing near Secret Service.
You attack children in photos because you hate their father's politics.
You treat disputed events as proven facts because your bubble never challenges the narrative.
Spain built her entire career on being angry at conservatives – and ESPN finally got tired of it.
Now she's at the Olympics watching American athletes compete – and she can't even enjoy it because the Vice President showed up to support his own country.
That's not journalism.
That's not political commentary.
That's just broken.
