ESPN Just Watched Its Highest Paid Star Sit Next to Donald Trump and There Is Nothing They Can Do About It

Aug 14, 2026

Pat McAfee stood in the rain on a Cleveland tarmac pointing at the President of the United States in a backwards baseball cap.

Three weeks ago ESPN fired Ryan Clark for being too political.

McAfee just sat next to Trump for an entire event – and there is not one thing ESPN can do about it.

McAfee Met Air Force One in Jeans and Didn't Blink

Trump flew into Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Tuesday evening for the finals of the 2026 Patriot Games – a national youth athletic competition held at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

McAfee was on the tarmac when the plane landed.

Not in a suit. Not playing the game.

Jeans, a T-shirt, sneakers, and a backwards cap.

Trump stepped off the plane into the rain, held his umbrella with one hand, and pointed at McAfee with the other.

McAfee pointed right back.

The two then walked into the event together, sat side by side, and when the crowd erupted with "We love you, Mr. President," McAfee put his hands together and applauded.

ESPN Has Been Purging People For Exactly This

ESPN conducted its latest round of layoffs just weeks ago – and the names tell you everything about what the network wanted to clean out.

Ryan Clark. Karl Ravech. Cam Newton. David Lloyd.

Clark – who made a second career out of injecting race and politics into every sports conversation – got walked off the set mid-broadcast after word leaked to the media.

Ravech had been with the network for 33 years.

Newton had just signed a new multi-year deal in 2025.

One former ESPN personality called it getting "all of the woke out of the building."

ESPN spent years making clear that any association with Trump's political orbit carried a professional price.

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart introduced the president at a rally in New York and got dragged publicly by his own teammate.

Mason Rudolph took heat for meeting with Trump.

The message from sports media was always the same: side with this president and we will make your professional life painful.

McAfee heard all of that.

He sat down next to Trump anyway.

This Is the Second Time McAfee Has Dared ESPN to Do Something About It

This wasn't a spontaneous moment.

McAfee had Trump on his show last November for Veterans Day.

Left-wing media went after him.

Sports media critics predicted ESPN would face internal backlash over the appearance.

McAfee told anyone upset about it that they could go ahead and "swallow" the fact that it was the President of the United States on Veterans Day – and that opposing it meant hating the troops.

He also reached out to Barack Obama for the same show.

Obama's team declined due to scheduling conflicts.

That's the whole story right there.

McAfee doesn't pick sides – he invites the president because it's the president.

The Left can't stand it because the current president is Donald Trump and their entire identity is built around opposing him.

This time McAfee didn't settle for a phone interview.

Front Office Sports confirmed he was personally invited to attend – ESPN, which is airing the Patriot Games on its app, knew exactly what was happening and said nothing.

The Left Has Already Started Melting Down

"Pat MAGAfee" was trending within hours.

"You do not deserve the platform you've been given," one social media user wrote to McAfee directly.

"McAfee's smugness is truly the worst part about him," another posted. "He will come out and say he isn't political and that this doesn't mean anything as he gleefully sits there with a grin."

That last one is actually correct.

McAfee will go on his show Wednesday, talk about what a great event it was, mention that America's young athletes are incredible, probably say something funny about Trump's umbrella, and move on.

And the people who hate him for it will have accomplished nothing.

Because here's what they can't figure out: McAfee is the most valuable personality ESPN has.

They just fired Ryan Clark and Cam Newton – the guys who constantly made the network a political headache.

The last thing ESPN's leadership wants is a war with the employee who actually makes them money.

Trump knows this. McAfee knows this.

Everybody in that stadium in Ohio on Tuesday night knew it.

Game recognized game – and ESPN's woke hall monitors have zero cards left to play.
