Elon Musk stormed back into MAGA politics with the biggest Senate donation he's ever made.
The timing wasn't random.
And Elon Musk cut a $10 million check when he heard about Charlie Kirk's last endorsement.
Musk's record donation backs Morris to replace McConnell
The world's richest man just placed a massive wager on Kentucky businessman Nate Morris.
Musk dropped $10 million into the Fight for Kentucky super PAC backing Morris's Senate campaign.
That's the most Musk has ever given to a single Senate candidate.
The donation signals Musk is back in the game for the 2026 midterms after his public falling out with President Trump last summer.
Their feud exploded in June over Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" spending package.
Musk accused Trump of appearing in the Epstein files and threatened to start a third party.
But Vice President JD Vance spent months working the phones to broker a truce.
By September, Musk and Trump were shaking hands at Charlie Kirk's memorial service in Arizona.
Trump hosted Musk at a November state dinner for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
And in early January, Musk posted photos from a "lovely dinner" with Trump and Melania at Mar-a-Lago.
Now Musk's opening his checkbook for Republicans who pass the Trump loyalty test.
Charlie Kirk launched Morris weeks before assassination
Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
The Turning Point USA founder had just launched Morris's Senate campaign weeks earlier.
Morris announced his candidacy on Donald Trump Jr.'s podcast in June, then held his first major rally with Kirk in Shepherdsville, Kentucky on June 30.
"Charlie was probably the primary architect of my unification with President Trump," Morris told Fox News.
Kirk compared Morris's working-class background to JD Vance's story from "Hillbilly Elegy."
Now Morris is running as the guy carrying Kirk's torch.
"We're picking up the mantle for Charlie," Morris said after the assassination.
"We're going to honor him by running an incredible campaign and winning this thing."
GOP primary polls show Morris trailing despite MAGA endorsements
The donation came after Musk spoke with Morris about his campaign message.
Morris has been the only candidate willing to attack Mitch McConnell by name.
"This race is going to be very simple: it's a referendum on Mitch McConnell's record," Morris said at his campaign launch.
The 45-year-old waste management CEO is positioning himself as a political outsider.
He's running against Congressman Andy Barr and former Attorney General Daniel Cameron in the May 19 primary.
Recent polling shows Cameron leading with 39-40%, Barr at 22-25%, and Morris trailing at 8-13%.
But Morris has been outspending his rivals on TV ads with nearly $1.6 million through early January.
He's also loaned his campaign more than $4 million on top of Musk's super PAC donation.
The playbook mirrors how JD Vance and Bernie Moreno won their primaries as outsider businessmen.
Both rode endorsements from Trump and MAGA kingmakers to victory over establishment Republicans.
Morris has endorsements from Trump Jr., Senators Jim Banks and Bernie Moreno (both Vance allies), and the late Charlie Kirk.
Trump himself hasn't endorsed yet, but Morris is close friends with Vice President Vance.
Cameron may lead the polls, but he already lost a statewide race in Kentucky's 2023 governor contest despite Trump's endorsement.
That gives Morris an opening to run as the only candidate who won't answer to the McConnell establishment.
And with Charlie Kirk's assassination making the stakes even higher, Musk just gave Morris the firepower to compete.
