Doug Burgum Found a Group Teaching Illegal Aliens How to Dodge ICE and Cut Their Federal Funding

Jun 15, 2026

The Biden administration handed your tax dollars to a group that taught illegal immigrants how to avoid ICE agents.

Now Trump's Interior Secretary found it buried inside a federal partnership – and just ended it.

What he found inside 3,000 government agreements is the kind of thing that should make every American furious.

A Government That Funded Its Own Undermining

The Department of the Interior quietly housed nearly 3,000 active agreements with roughly 2,000 outside organizations – NGOs, nonprofits, universities, and private groups.

Secretary Doug Burgum ordered a full review in March.

Latino Outdoors wasn't just getting federal money to take people hiking.

The group was distributing instructions on how to evade detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

That program lived inside the Department of the Interior – funded by Americans who voted for secure borders and got the opposite.

The Hispanic Access Foundation was using its federal partnership to hand out scholarships to students who entered the country illegally.

Conservation International was on record calling fossil fuels the "leading culprit" of carbon emissions and pushing for a total phase-out – while holding a cooperative agreement with the same department managing America's oil and gas development.

The American Alliance of Museums held a contract with the National Park Service specifically to build DEI programs across national parks.

The Cultural Landscape Foundation was suing over changes at the Kennedy Center and running a campaign called "Landslide 2026: Erasing American History" – while simultaneously holding a master cooperative agreement with the NPS.

These groups weren't partners in any meaningful sense.

They were adversaries with federal badges.

43 Down and the Cleanup Continues

Burgum terminated 43 partnerships and cut more than $4 million in planned funding.

Gone: the Hispanic Access Foundation, Latino Outdoors, National Geographic Society, Conservation International, National Wildlife Federation, American Alliance of Museums, Doris Duke Foundation, and the Green Schools Alliance – among others.

"The Department is ending relationships with organizations whose advocacy for phasing out baseload energy, defunding law enforcement services, and promoting racially preferential programs directly conflicts with this administration's priorities," said Matthew Middleton, the department's principal deputy communications director.

That's a precise and accurate description of what these groups were doing.

Every dollar cut is a dollar that stops working against the people who sent Trump back to Washington to fix exactly this.

Interior will now vet every future partnership against the department's actual mission – public land access and responsible energy development – instead of outsourcing its agenda to groups openly hostile to both.

This Is What Winning Looks Like

The Left spent years embedding activist organizations inside federal agencies – and it wasn't an accident.

Progressive nonprofits knew that a Democrat in the White House meant their agenda got laundered through official government channels – federal partnerships, cooperative agreements, NPS contracts – with your money.

Burgum just ripped that infrastructure out by the root.

Reagan fired 11,000 air traffic controllers in 1981 to establish that federal resources exist to serve American interests – not the interests of groups that declared war on the administration's agenda.

Burgum just applied the same logic to nearly 2,000 organizations that had been collecting federal paychecks while working against the government that issued them.

The groups that got cut can still advocate for open borders, fossil fuel bans, and DEI in museums.

They just have to do it without your money.
