Donna Kelce has become a household name thanks to her superstar sons.
The proud football mom just made a big announcement about Travis Kelce’s latest business venture.
And Donna Kelce made one announcement about Travis Kelce that has football fans racing to Kansas City.
Donna Kelce shows off her son’s upcoming restaurant
Donna Kelce has enjoyed her time in the spotlight since both of her sons became NFL superstars.
Travis Kelce plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs while Jason Kelce recently retired after a Hall of Fame career with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The proud mother has been a fixture at both teams’ games over the years and became even more famous after Travis began dating pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Now Donna is using her platform to promote her son’s latest business venture.
Travis Kelce and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes are opening a high-end steakhouse in Kansas City called 1587 Prime.
The name comes from the jersey numbers of both players – Travis wears number 87 and Mahomes sports number 15.
On Monday, Donna took to Facebook to share her excitement about the upcoming restaurant opening.
She posted a photo of herself standing outside the future location with the caption, "Can’t wait for Patrick’s & Travis’ steakhouse to open in the first floor of Loew’s hotel in Kansas City!!!"¹
The post immediately generated buzz among football fans and food enthusiasts alike.
Comments poured in from excited fans planning trips to Kansas City specifically to try the new restaurant.
"On my bucket list! I can’t wait to go!!!!!! So excited for them God Bless," wrote one enthusiastic fan.²
Another commenter revealed they were already making travel plans, writing, "I’m flying there to try it next year and to see a game at [GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium] for the first time! I saw their sneak peak pics of the food, looks amazing."³
The Chiefs stars put their steakhouse menu to the test
The restaurant has been generating significant interest since it was first announced in March 2024.
The upscale dining establishment will span 10,000 square feet across two levels within the Loews Hotel in downtown Kansas City’s business district.
Last week, Travis and Mahomes gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant’s development process.
The official Instagram account for 1587 Prime shared a video of the two Chiefs stars conducting a taste test of menu items.
The video showed them sampling various custom butter offerings that will be available at the restaurant.
The players sampled an impressive variety of flavored butters, including options made with white truffle, bone marrow, garlic, and hibiscus, plus chimichurri and truffle soy varieties.
Mahomes was clearly impressed with the flavors, saying "I could just tell from the first bite that that was going to be a ‘yeah’" after reaching for more of one of the butters.⁴
Travis was equally enthusiastic about the menu, leaning back in his chair and telling Mahomes, "You need some of that, dog" while pointing to one of the butter selections.⁵
The restaurant is being developed in partnership with hospitality group Noble 33, which operates high-end dining establishments in other major cities.
"Travis and I have become frequent visitors of Noble 33 restaurants in other cities, so it only made sense to bring something special to our own community in Kansas City," Mahomes explained when the venture was first announced.⁶
Kansas City prepares for another championship-level attraction
The timing of this restaurant opening couldn’t be better for Kansas City.
The Chiefs have won three Super Bowl championships in the past five years, making Kansas City a destination for football fans from across the country.
Adding a high-end steakhouse owned by the team’s biggest stars gives visitors another reason to plan trips to the city.
The restaurant was originally scheduled to open in early 2025, but the timeline appears to have shifted as no official opening date has been released.
However, based on the recent taste testing videos and Donna Kelce’s enthusiastic Facebook post, it appears the opening is getting closer.
The combination of Travis Kelce’s celebrity status – amplified by his relationship with Taylor Swift – and Mahomes’ status as one of the NFL’s biggest stars virtually guarantees the restaurant will be a major attraction.
Kansas City has already seen a tourism boom thanks to the Chiefs’ success and Swift’s frequent appearances at games.
1587 Prime represents the latest way the city is capitalizing on its championship football team.
The restaurant will give Chiefs fans a year-round way to connect with their favorite players, even during the off-season.
For Donna Kelce, seeing her son succeed in business ventures beyond football represents another proud moment in what has been an incredible journey watching both of her boys reach the pinnacle of professional sports.
Her Facebook announcement has Chiefs Kingdom and foodies alike marking their calendars for whenever 1587 Prime officially opens its doors.
